Some people don't seem to realise at times how wise and intelligent many comics are! Lee Mack has a pretty zany personae but in a contrast to that side of him is a grounded, sensible guy with no real pretensions. I know what he states at the end may seem to be off-putting to any aspiring comics but all he's doing is telling it how it most likely is. No point is sugar coating it. He's encouraging and being pragmatic at the same time.

May not be a huge motivator but it's the most honest, straight forward advice anyone wanting to get in to comedy could hear

Very interesting comment correlating insecurity with comedians. Understand some people use humour in order to be accepted, validated but I never thought that applied to professional comedians.

Did he do his first gig at 16 or 26? I'm confused. I'm 27 and wondering if that's too late to start because I probably won't be good for like 10 years based on what Lee said but then I'll be 37 which seems pretty late to the comedy scene.

Wittiest man for sure with short sharp sentences.. robbin williams on the other hand, had so many characters living inside of him you never knew what riff or rant would come out and when it would end

@@jackwatsonepic626 Agreed. Robin was great in his heyday. But like so many others before and since he began to rest on his laurels, utilizing the same routines, voices etc. There's nothing worse than a comic who throws in the towel because he doesn't want to work anymore. In Robin's defense I'll suggest that perhaps it was his stellar career in acting that kinda pulled him out of his once hilarious comedy realm. Lee on the other hand is always fresh.

In the future, I suggest you tell the audience you have crabs at the beginning of the show.

I think you do have to be fairly naturally quick witted, have a creative imagination and a good memory. All of which I don't have! As a side not this gave me a new respect for whoever does the makeup & lighting on WILTY. They make everyone look great on that show! No offence to Lee ofc

If you could laugh at sophisticated jokes, you could write funny jokes. Stand up commedies are about practice and honing your material and delivery. If you're not witty enough, probably a certain panel shows aren't for you. But you can still be a guest. And once you've wrote enough materials, you'll train yourself with your materials in your head to be able to throw them into conversations. Or you can do scripted shows like Whose Line Is It, Mock of the Week, and or write your own sketches & sitcoms.

As a stand up he is pretty average but where he excels is in Not Going Out comedy with his excellent pseudo laddish one liners.

how original is that JOHN SMITH well that is not funny for a start, this man like all the other "observational comics" are just that, they refuse to tell a "joke" they just ridicule people who are weak, bring back the mother in law jokes any time at least they had a punch line
