Through his paintings, sculptures, and performances, Kang-so Lee questions the nature of both art and existence. For his solo exhibition Extinction, Lee provided a unique form of experiential (rather than conceptual) art, building a full replica of a pub that each visitor could engage with in his or her own way. To ensure that his works are freely received without preconceptions, he seeks to erase traces of modernity and his own subjectivity from his ceramic sculptures and his semi-abstract paintings resembling ducks or landscapes.
