For people who didn't know about it, in a recent interview with AltWire, Jen said this about the song: " There were quite a few songs that I wrote in the beginning with Korey 6 years ago, and Ruins is the only one to make the final cut for the EP... ‘Ruins’ is not just a simple break-up song, it explores all avenues of being ruined - the good and the bad. It’s about being wrecked by love in both senses. On the one side, I’ve been ruined by a love that has hurt me; a love that’s let me down and left me wanting to stay guarded to protect myself from being hurt again. Alternatively, it’s also about the beauty in being ruined by something so good that your life can never go back to what it was before. When you find a love this good, it’s a wonderful and scary thing to fully lean into it. You’re ruined in the sense that life as it was before will never be as satisfying again. I love that “Ruins” deals with the battle within, trusting in a new love, and letting it ruin you in beautiful ways."

Amazing. Jen Ledger has one of the best singing voices of all times. She sounds like an angel, and she sings with so much compassion and confidence. I've always liked all four members of Skillet: John, Korey, Seth, and Jen.

Like, can we talk about how profoundly these lyrics hit? I relate to this song HARD. The life I wanted got swept out from under me one piece at a time as I pressed deeper into my faith, and I was WRECKED, but now, even though I’m nowhere near where I wanted my life to be, I feel more whole than ever before.

I’m just now finding out about this song 5 years after, but it’s better late than never. One of the most beautifully made songs that I’ve ever listened to before. I hope we hear more from her in the future. It’s been a complete blessing to me today to hear this.

Have loved Jen's drumming from her beginning with the band. I was a little unsure of her doing back up vocals instead of Korey. It gave the band a different sound that I soon came to appreciate. But now, my gosh! Jen has really came into her own. I enjoy every song on solo project. So glad she has the support of John, and the rest of the band. PanHead for life!

I am unsure about what this song was written about, but it reminded me of when I gave my life back to God. I dealt with a drug problem, and a few other things, and ALWAYS, at the right moment, a Skillet song would play. Little did I know at the time, that God was using Skillets music to reach out to me and to remind me that I was not alone, and I would be able to get over whatever was going on. As of April 26, 2017 I gave up my drug addiction, but have been clean since February 21, 2018 (the last time I relapsed). I am so proud of you Jen, and am excited to see where your solo project will go! Your EP is amazing, and I have had this song on repeat all day! Your music is inspirational, and I hope one day to see LEDGER in concert!! God has seriously blessed you with such an amazing talent, that will touch many lives! ☺️

i was going through a difficult period in my life. I lost a girl i loved and for the first time in my life i was good. i had my work my friends...everythink....AND then everythink collapsed..she left me in work they started taking advantage of me my friends start moving around and i left alone...For me i took lot of time (and still taking) to heal but i suddenly i heard a song from skillet awake and alive from live to pikpop and when i heard her voice i fell in love again...for some reason she took my sorrow the weight from my hear....And then this song....Aghhh...I hope to find again someone to move like her voice..i may be in "love" with a voice not a person but for me its a step to be good again.Thanks Jen for making art.Keep going.
