This is the blues cranked way up. They were the best band, in my opinion. Robert Plant, lead vocals wrote the lyrics, and harmonica, John Paul Jones, bass and keyboards, arranged a lot of the music, John Bonham “Bonzo”, drums, best ever, and Jimmy Page, lead guitar, and creator of the band, wrote the music, and producer. I would suggest you react to “You Shook Me” from their first album. Straight blues.

Ummm no, Zeppelin had one song, Black Dog that was in 5/4 time, all other songs were 4/4 for the most part. I've seen some great Zeppelin cover bands that play every detail and nuance from my favorite band.. but I don't see anybody able to copy Tool the same way. Tool has such complex songs, they're not in the same conversation as Zeppelin ... Tool has already established an entirely new level.. but they all stand on the shoulders of the giants, just how it works, it's a progression

If no one said, Jimmy Page, the guitarists, also was the engineer in the studio for most if not all their albums. And he did the remasterings. Alas, they broke up in 1980 when the drummer drank 40 shots of vodka, threw up, and sofficated on his vomit. The rest are still alive. You should defintly check this song out from Madison Square Garden in 1973 live. They bring a whole new deminsion to their songs live.

You guys are gifted with musical knowledge, being fair and honest in your assessments, - and funny! I just recently found your site and now a fan as well. Led Zep is a real treat and obviously one of the all-time greatest. I know you've done many reviews of LZ albums since this review, so I know you really appreciate them. "Since I've Been Loving You", is one of many, of their great tunes and certainly a favorite of mine. LZ was officially my first live concert in Aug '69, upstate NY, a week after Woodstock. I had just turned 17. I think it may have been on their first tour of the US. They were young & new, and made a huge impression with their debut album - which is still my favorite album by them, regardless the wonderful work they've done afterward. Hard to really dislike anything they've done musically. Thank you Airplay Beats.

I loved watching your reactions, they have been my favorite band for 40 years now. When John Bonham the drummer passed away 1980 the band dismantled, they could not continue they were that close and tight. They did do a couple of reunions but that was it. Stairway to Heaven may possibly be the most famous song in the world, one to check out as well. You got to hear this song live it's even better that studio and you get to see what they are about. Madison Square Garden 1973, hope to hear it!

Led Zep quit as a group in 1980 after the drummer, John Bonham, died. Except for a few re-union shows, they've pretty much gone their separate ways. They were the very definition of Rock Stars in 70s. Next rec: "Good Times, Bad Times". Their first song on the first side of their first album. Hit the world like a punch in the face in 1968. Best song off that album IMO is "Dazed and Confused", another blues rock banger.
@jmar7631 Жыл бұрын
Although Led Zeppelin was a rock band, the best ever, they drew heavily from blues, especially early in their career, although they also incorporated other genres into their music (soul, funk, folk, rockabilly, etc.). They were certainly no "one trick pony". If you want to hear more of their blues tunes, I suggest that you go back to albums 1 and 2. A few from album 1 (recorded in 1968, dropped in 1969) include You Shook Me, I Can't Quit You Baby and How Many More Times. A few from album 2 (recorded and dropped in 1969) include Whole Lotta Love, The Lemon Song, Bring it on Home. Both albums 1 and 2 were recorded when the guys' ages ranged from just 19-24. Quite amazing, obviously very gifted guys and remember, no auto tune back then. What's cool about listening to studio versions is hearing the magic of Jimmy Page (guitarist) as producer. Enjoyed your reaction and looking forward to hearing more. Thanks.
@henriettaskolnick4445 Жыл бұрын
Led Zeppelin was considered hard rock/heavy blues but they played a variety of styles. Guitarist Jimmy Page did that solo in one take. You mentioned James Brown, they did a playful take on James' style with a song called "The Crunge". Most people hate it but I think it's fun and they weren't making fun of James Brown, they were just being silly and having a good time in the studio that day. If you want to stick to a more serious style, try some funk with their song "Trampled Under Foot". Another blues song that I personally consider better than this is "Tea For One". It is the most heart-wrenching, hard, blues song. It hardly ever gets reacted to so I hope you consider it. Also, if you select any of these, please listen to the studio first - as you heard here - the production is second to none.

Despite of extraordinary talents and skills, I'd say Zepp's music is an expression of their intimate friendships relation among them with various approaches and influences from blues to world musics to create their own musical journeys. Go check Kashmir O2 Arena Live 2007. The magic was still there.

At night i would find a record and listen to it through head phones after lights out. This was the first Zep album i ever heard. I chose it because of the crazy record sleeve. It was a kaleidoscope wheel that showed all kinds of different pics of the band. This song changed my world. REAL ROCK MUSIC. All my friends were deep in the glam rock trend. It was the eighties. Zeppelin saved me from that terrible music. I never get tired of this song. For all the greatness that is LZ, this song for me is the top of the mountain. No song compares. or even comes close to this level of perfection. I love when others find enjoyment in this sonic experience.

Yessir it’s blues....and it’s rock. But what is rock n roll but a mixture of blues, country, swing, folk....rock n roll is a stew. Back in the day much of the rock music that came out was based on a foundation of blues. In the 60s there was a huge blues scene in england and it helped spawn the ‘british Invasion’. The best thing about it though was by the late 60s this music was introduced to young white audiences in America and these kids ate it up. Promoters like Bill Graham started putting together concerts that included these young bands as well as some of the original blues artists who by then didn’t have much of an audience...it gave these artists a whole new audience...whole new life. Wish I could have been there. People will knock on hippies a lot...say what they will, but these kids took their music VERY seriously

Since 14, I've known they are the greatest band, and now I'm 58,and I still feel the same way when I hear them.

Agreed, they are the GOAT. I still put Pink Floyd, and The Doors in same company.
This is Zeppelin at their most soulful, most expressive there is nothing this band couldn’t do. No mountain they couldn’t climb.
Jimmy Page did all the production, a true genius.
Jimmy Page's best and most intense lead ever. The absolute best that ever was or ever will be.
Jimmy just imposes himself, without even an introduction, into the backstreets of your mind forever. Magic!
Their live from MSG 73 is just as good.

You start going down this rabbit hole and we're going to be here for a long time because they have so many good albums and l'm going to be here with you because they are my favorite of all time🤟😍 "Led Head" for life!!!
The guitar solo for this song was recorded in a single take.
The Gods Of Rock!
Watch this song live Madison Square Gardens 1973 I believe. It kicks ass and you get to see the boys up close. Enjoy your channel very much...
This is my absolute favorite Led Zeppelin song..and the live version is crazy good!!
One of the greates songs ever written
Drummer, John Bonham, plays with the most complicated time signatures. Any other band would fall into complete chaos. Each member is soooo talented. The GOATS!!!

@@chrisw3421 I believe "Fool in the Rain" and "Kashmir," among others, have different counter-rhythmic time signatures between the drums and guitar/keyboards.

I got to give it to you, Julie, Led Zeppelin IS the best rock band ever for the pure quality and ultimate skill, no one else sounds quite as good as them. Plus you can argue all of them are the best at what they do. Pink Floyd for me, is the other side of that coin. Rock On! 🎸
Led Zeppelin: Robert Plant is the singer Jimmy Page is the guitarist John Bonham is the drummer John Paul Jones is the bassist and keyboards. They played blues, rock, folk, Hard Rock, reggae, and hippie mysticism. Try their songs, Kashmir Dazed and Confused The Lemon song How many more times Tea for one You shook me In my time of dying This is just a few to get you started, there's much much more.
Best Band Ever..
The live version of this song is absolutely incredible.
Usually when they ranked the greatest bands ever it is usually The Beatles or Led Zeppelin ranked either one or two in that order or reversed...the GOATs...no they stopped touring when the drummer died, but they had a one time reunion in 2007 and they had 20 million tickets requests in the first hour, Jimmy Page the guitarist produced all of Led Zeppelin albums...just subscribed. Listen to the studio version of Stairway to Heaven brother
Led Zeppelin is comprised of, lead singer Robert Plant guitarist and engineer of all songs Jimmy Page. Drummer is John Bonham and keyboardist and basest is John Paul Jones. Try their songs, Dazed and Confused You shook me The Lemon song How many more times In my time of dying These are a few of my favorite bluesy songs by them. Must hear!
Respect gentlemen ! You have the Zep in your hearts 1
Thanks.

LED ZEP .IS A BLUES ROCK BAND ( BRITISH BLUES INVASION , TIME PERIOD )... Influenced heavily by the Black Artist & Entertainers of that time .. Motown Dominated !... The thing is this song and Robert Plants vocals project Soul (deep inner reflections) conveyed through the Blues... Every so rare often someone or some musical group commeth along that one can only define as : SPECIAL 👀💫🌞👍... LED was around from 69-81, only 12 years and OMG look at the quality and body of work..OUTSTANDING ! Every album is timeless pleasure - no filler bull shit - Just the good shit 🍀THANK YOU ZEP 👍
I grew up with these guys and they were so far ahead of their times. every member has mad skills.
Led Zeppelin, imo, made Rock music sexy by adding the blues in their music. ❤
This is a blues song with twist...all Zepp members showed how the forcefull chemestry exploded to unpredictable directions to create musical beauty that survived the times. Despite of extraordinary talents and skills, I'd say Zepp's music is an expression of their intimate friendships relation among them with various approaches and influences from blues to world musics to create their own musical journeys. Go check Kashmir O2 Arena Live 2007. The magic was still there.
Speaking of James Brown, huge influence on this band, especially the drummer John Bonham. No, Bonham died in 1980. They disbanded then, with occasional reunions since. The best being with Bonham's son Jason for their 2007 concert. You guys need to increase the size of your screen so we can see you!

I loves watching led Zeppelin snatch people's soul for the first time 😁
There’s no such thing as a bad Led Zeppelin song. 90% plus are phenomenal and a few may not be great or even good, but none are bad. There’s a rabbit hole for you to jump down! Greatest band ever? Probably. Them or The Beatles (the only other band IMHO that has no bad songs).
The baddest rock band ever ! No doubt !
Great reaction 😊 loved the air drumming - we worship music in Britain and classic rock is one of our gods !
I was 13 when my family moved to a new place. My Father gave me his record collection and his stereo with record player to keep in my room.
IN MY TIME OF DYING- Led Zeppelin
To take the seeds of the late 60s to mid 70s and REPLANT them today WILL RESURRECT ROCK-n-ROLL !
This song , the studio version , is one of their best. A personal favorite. Arguably...Jimmy Page's best guitar solo. 🎸🔥

Tea for one doesn't get much love, but it should it's that damn good. When I first started on the guitar, I did a mixed tape of since I've been loving you, Tea for one, and I'm gonna crawl, the solos all in one. they do fit perfectly together.
Zeppelin stretches thru so many genres. You might come across a song you don’t like but their catalog is worth listening to at the very least
Also a great response in this song to the critics who where critical of them for manipulating the blues. They showed them not only could they do it but write an original epic
RUN WIT IT BROTHER... GET THE LED OUT ! 👍🇺🇸
Bonzo died in Sept 1980. At Jimmy Page's house. He'd been drinking heavily all day. They were rehearsing for their upcoming tour. He hated touring. Anyway, they put him to bed and found him dead in the morning. JPJ found him. That moment was the end of LZ and they all knew it. They reunited for a one-time only in 2007 in London. There were 20 million requests for tickets for 20,000 seats. Check it out. Bonzo's son Jason is playing his dad's drums. Gotta see it!

Definitely check out live version of this too. My favorite is live at MSG 1973

Led Zep is definitely steeped in the blues, but the drums, just the power, and the loud feedback-drenched guitars take it to the rock level.
