@@AirplayBeatsback in the day we used to get some of that good sticky icky and zone out to Zep. It was like you could picture each one of them in your head as the music plays. It’s hard to say they were greater than the sum of their parts because they’re all so incredible as individual musicians. But when the four of them came together, something else happened, something in the universe that you can’t really describe or put into words. Pure magic.

Ummm no, Zeppelin had one song, Black Dog that was in 5/4 time, all other songs were 4/4 for the most part. I've seen some great Zeppelin cover bands that play every detail and nuance from my favorite band.. but I don't see anybody able to copy Tool the same way. Tool has such complex songs, they're not in the same conversation as Zeppelin ... Tool has already established an entirely new level.. but they all stand on the shoulders of the giants, just how it works, it's a progression

This is the blues cranked way up. They were the best band, in my opinion. Robert Plant, lead vocals wrote the lyrics, and harmonica, John Paul Jones, bass and keyboards, arranged a lot of the music, John Bonham “Bonzo”, drums, best ever, and Jimmy Page, lead guitar, and creator of the band, wrote the music, and producer. I would suggest you react to “You Shook Me” from their first album. Straight blues.

Alas, they broke up in 1980 when the drummer drank 40 shots of vodka, threw up, and sofficated on his vomit. The rest are still alive. You should defintly check this song out from Madison Square Garden in 1973 live. They bring a whole new deminsion to their songs live.

Led Zeppelin was considered hard rock/heavy blues but they played a variety of styles. Guitarist Jimmy Page did that solo in one take. You mentioned James Brown, they did a playful take on James' style with a song called "The Crunge". Most people hate it but I think it's fun and they weren't making fun of James Brown, they were just being silly and having a good time in the studio that day. If you want to stick to a more serious style, try some funk with their song "Trampled Under Foot". Another blues song that I personally consider better than this is "Tea For One". It is the most heart-wrenching, hard, blues song. It hardly ever gets reacted to so I hope you consider it. Also, if you select any of these, please listen to the studio first - as you heard here - the production is second to none.

Although Led Zeppelin was a rock band, the best ever, they drew heavily from blues, especially early in their career, although they also incorporated other genres into their music (soul, funk, folk, rockabilly, etc.). They were certainly no "one trick pony". If you want to hear more of their blues tunes, I suggest that you go back to albums 1 and 2. A few from album 1 (recorded in 1968, dropped in 1969) include You Shook Me, I Can't Quit You Baby and How Many More Times. A few from album 2 (recorded and dropped in 1969) include Whole Lotta Love, The Lemon Song, Bring it on Home. Both albums 1 and 2 were recorded when the guys' ages ranged from just 19-24. Quite amazing, obviously very gifted guys and remember, no auto tune back then. What's cool about listening to studio versions is hearing the magic of Jimmy Page (guitarist) as producer. Enjoyed your reaction and looking forward to hearing more. Thanks.

Led Zep quit as a group in 1980 after the drummer, John Bonham, died. Except for a few re-union shows, they've pretty much gone their separate ways. They were the very definition of Rock Stars in 70s. Next rec: "Good Times, Bad Times". Their first song on the first side of their first album. Hit the world like a punch in the face in 1968. Best song off that album IMO is "Dazed and Confused", another blues rock banger.

You guys are gifted with musical knowledge, being fair and honest in your assessments, - and funny! I just recently found your site and now a fan as well. Led Zep is a real treat and obviously one of the all-time greatest. I know you've done many reviews of LZ albums since this review, so I know you really appreciate them. "Since I've Been Loving You", is one of many, of their great tunes and certainly a favorite of mine. LZ was officially my first live concert in Aug '69, upstate NY, a week after Woodstock. I had just turned 17. I think it may have been on their first tour of the US. They were young & new, and made a huge impression with their debut album - which is still my favorite album by them, regardless the wonderful work they've done afterward. Hard to really dislike anything they've done musically. Thank you Airplay Beats.

Bonzo died in Sept 1980. At Jimmy Page's house. He'd been drinking heavily all day. They were rehearsing for their upcoming tour. He hated touring. Anyway, they put him to bed and found him dead in the morning. JPJ found him. That moment was the end of LZ and they all knew it. They reunited for a one-time only in 2007 in London. There were 20 million requests for tickets for 20,000 seats. Check it out. Bonzo's son Jason is playing his dad's drums. Gotta see it!

I was 13 when my family moved to a new place. My Father gave me his record collection and his stereo with record player to keep in my room. At night i would find a record and listen to it through head phones after lights out. This was the first Zep album i ever heard. I chose it because of the crazy record sleeve. It was a kaleidoscope wheel that showed all kinds of different pics of the band. This song changed my world. REAL ROCK MUSIC. All my friends were deep in the glam rock trend. It was the eighties. Zeppelin saved me from that terrible music. I never get tired of this song. For all the greatness that is LZ, this song for me is the top of the mountain. No song compares. or even comes close to this level of perfection. I love when others find enjoyment in this sonic experience.

I remember first hearing this a long time ago when I bought the vinyl. I was totally in awe of this band at the time, and still am. Never been bettered. I'm 69 and listen to Led most days . This track is probably my favourite, although there are so many brilliant tracks on their albums it's a tough choice. Love your reaction by the way, now you know how us old 'uns felt when we first heard it.

Zeppelin stretches thru so many genres. You might come across a song you don’t like but their catalog is worth listening to at the very least

This song , the studio version , is one of their best. A personal favorite. Arguably...Jimmy Page's best guitar solo. 🎸🔥

Also a great response in this song to the critics who where critical of them for manipulating the blues. They showed them not only could they do it but write an original epic

Sadly, the chance of the surviving members, Robert Plant, Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones, reuniting for a tour is almost non-existent at this point.

Yessir it’s blues....and it’s rock. But what is rock n roll but a mixture of blues, country, swing, folk....rock n roll is a stew. Back in the day much of the rock music that came out was based on a foundation of blues. In the 60s there was a huge blues scene in england and it helped spawn the ‘british Invasion’. The best thing about it though was by the late 60s this music was introduced to young white audiences in America and these kids ate it up. Promoters like Bill Graham started putting together concerts that included these young bands as well as some of the original blues artists who by then didn’t have much of an audience...it gave these artists a whole new audience...whole new life. Wish I could have been there. People will knock on hippies a lot...say what they will, but these kids took their music VERY seriously

You NEED to hear "Kashmir" from Celebration Day, it was a reunion concert and they were in their 60's and KILLED it! IMO, the best live version of the song! Great reaction btw! You need to enlarge your part of the video so we can see your great reaction better!
