I appreciate a male giving Robert Plant his due! No way you can dismiss his charisma and sex appeal, but he holds back enough not to overpower the music. There is always something that draws you to the bad boy musician, but no one comes close to Robert Plant.

I really like your reactions to the legendary Zep. You really appreciate their enormous talent. I have been a huge fan for 50 years. I saw them live in 1973. We were front row center and it was the best concert of my life. I was literally deaf for the next 3 days. Anyway I just had the pleasure and shock of my life by meeting Robert this Father's day. We ran into him at a little out the way Mexican Restaurant and ended up talking to him for a good while. I was so shocked that I could hardly speak. The way it happened was a total miracle too. He is incredibly nice and funny and his voice is still amazing!! Hes 74 years old now. Good thing I didn't meet him when we were young because I would have passed out. I just wanted to share that with you because I'm still on Cloud 9!🤩

You met Robert Plant and had.a nice long talk with him !!!!!!!! Amazing. I have heard that Plant has always been a nice guy. Even during Zeppelin's hey day. I've seen interviews with him in the 80s on MTV and he came across being funny and yet, it is the kind of humor you have to get.

The reason this band is so good is because each member of the band was a musical genius. John Bonham was hands down the GOAT at drumming but he also did so many other things with the acoustics and sound when they recorded albums . One time he got them to record a song with his drum kit in the middle of a hallway because he liked the acoustics. Also Jimmy Page...... one of the greatest guitarists of all time not just for his playing of the instrument but for the sounds he incorporated into songs. He used a violin bow to play the guitar and it changed the entire sound . Pure geniuses!!!! Still love them to this day! So glad you got to see Moby Dick even if we couldn’t see the reaction😊

Led Zeppelin were 4 master musicians. Bonzo already had his nickname before joining Zeppelin. Fun fact: Bonzo used to get kicked out of bands because he played too loud. Watch some of Jimmy's playing; when he's jamming, he closes his eyes while he plays and I swear he goes into another dimension where he becomes a conduit for the music. One of the many phenomenal things about Zep is they each had a variety of musical influences; some similar to each other, some not, which helped form their style and versatility and versatility was something not all bands had. I hope your daughter changes her mind - we need to convert more fans! lol

Robert is still around. After Led Zeppelin, he had a great solo run in the 80's and 90's...THEN...he teamed up w Country/Blue star Allison Krauss and recorded Grammy winning albums. The guy still has that swagger. Women STILL swoon for Robert, it's crazy to see him interviewed...he just can't help it, he cool, sexy, and seductive at 73. Definitely one of the Elder Statesmen of Rock, but really, he loves and listens to all types of music. If you like Zeppelin, you'll like Bad Company, particularly, a song called I'm Ready For Love.

One thing that made Zep unique was the way Bonzo would twin Jimmy's guitar work on the drums. If you listen closely, you can hear that he's playing the same riff as Jimmy. They did this a lot, and when Jonesy would join them in the same riff on the bass, you'd get that "hammer of the gods" sound they were famous for.

This song is musical acrobatics. Strings playing one time signature and drums on another only meeting up every 20th beat. The focus and skill it takes to maintain conflicting time signature live is out of this world. The base player coined the term saying it created sort of a "stomp groove" from this song. They did it in Kashmir as well and add a certain tension to the songs that they do it.

Unfortunately the the drummer died in 1980 from excessive drinking right before they were to do a US tour. That was the saddest day in rock history. They were the first band to bring the delta blues rock and folk song together. They got there inspiration from American blues and jazz. There will never be another like them. They were out selling concerts at every city they went to on there 1st tour. But every comment you made about them you were right on.It’s good to see another generation enjoy them like we did back in the day.America made them famous and then there home country followed suite. THE TRUTH Been A Zeppelin fan since the 70's.😊 I KNOW all genres. I was the ripe age at the right time for ALL genres..a tennager in the 1980's which was the beginnings of rap. Rap comes from rock n roll believe this or not. My household as a child was all of rock n roll. As a teen in the 80's I had a younger brother that gravitated to rap. Because of him I got into Snoop Dog big time & everything that was hip at the time..absolutely loved! I can say 100% that the rock n roll genre will always be here to stay in my heart deeply. Rap is a genre that can go.I will not miss. I am well rounded in rap. I can say that rock n roll is dear to my heart.🔴

Helene here: YES YOU ARE A ROCKER now.......if you love Zeppelin, you are, by definition, a rocker...since they were one of the greatest, if not the greatest rock band in history. Black Sabbath is the band that Ozzy fronted for awhile.....they were the daddies of heavy metal. Deep Purple was another top band of the seventies.......Pink Floyd.....Rush....the talent was huge and the bench of outstanding bands and musicians was VERY deep......dozens. Zeppelin has an aura of mystery about it....they were very private personally...few interviews...no TV appearances....which only added to the legend. I famous for excess and wild ways....some true, some not. But they were each at the very top of their skills...Page is a rock guitar god...played with such panache and showmanship; John Bonham most powerful drummer in rock and a force of nature; John Paul Jones was the quiet one, but was the multi-talented studio musician...keyboards, bass, mandolin...and then Robert Plant was the gorgeous cherry on top.....powerful voice, great interpreter of blues, dripping with sexual charisma.....the proverbial “golden god” that set the bar and the mold for so many rock frontmen who followed him. And yea....they got the chicks.

John Bonham was a god. He lined his drums with tin foil. Recorded in places like certain houses for effect. He does the rythme and he adds to it. Like he doesn't stop. Ever. Best drummer ever. His sin Jason is kick ass too.

You are no different then any other Zep head.(only that your a tadpole) watching a newbie Being aww struck hearing their songs for the first time. Really brings me back to when I could not wait until a new record would be released. To hear everything for the very first time. Then playing that record over and over again for. Year. Waiting with eager anticipation to hear what the record would be like. Never was I disappointed. Even their last couple of records where they really went in a different direction. There was no mistaken it was Zep. The musicianship and creativity was always second to none. They could create masterpieces in any style of song. There are many great bands that were inspired by Zep. You just have to remember that it is easy to imitate and copy something that has been done before. But to be the first to compose such masterpieces. To be so creative and different that people did not know what to think. Jimmy Pages musical genius to explore and do things that have never been done before. That is the reason that Led Zeppelin is the greatest band of musicians ever. If you took 1 member out of the band it would not be the same.these 4 equally talented musicians were destined to be together. That’s why when Bonzo died in 1980 they broke up and could never continue as Led Zeppelin. Until Johns son Jason Bonham joined the band for a one concert show. Their music is timeless and never gets old

Wonderful synopsis Rick. We speak the same language. Sometimes the wait was long when Jimmy took his tiiiiime in the studio with post- production. I really dug that as a teenager, knowing Led Zeppelin poured more work into achieving perfection than anyone else. The results spoke for themselves. We were listening to history being made, and I KNEW that their cosmic creations would stand the test of time, that their work would still be celebrated 50 years into the future. Looks like I was right...we ALL were right! And I am so enjoying today's youth experiencing this magic for the 1st time in real time. It's kind of like looking into a mirror that can see 50 years into the past. Or when we'd go to a friend's parent's basement rec-room to blast our tunes as LOUD as we wanted! I actually bought IN THRU THE OUT DOOR on the very day of its release, summer of '79 methinks. That was exciting for me. Made me feel like I was part of history, one of the 1st to enjoy the new music from DAY 1! Cheers!🍒 🇨🇦🍁🇨🇦

@@kerryknight228 yes they were then and some 50 years later they still are. I will never forget that black September morning when we all herd the news of Bonzos death.I had paid for front row tickets for their 1980 North American tour. $100 in advance . Like in February 1980 ,from trip tickets in SD. It would have been my first Zeppelin concert. I stayed home from school and played every zeppelin album back to back with tears in my eyes. It was like my best friend died. I still feel a empty ness in my life since that day. Especially because I waited in1977 in line for tickets but they sold out. I was bummed then. That’s why I paid for guaranteed tickets. Well that was my first real lesson in life that nothing was guaranteed. Since that day I went to every midnight showing of TSRTS and to this day I still play that old vhs tape.greatest band then now and until the end of time

@@rickjohnson3580 We were absolutely gutted when we lost Bonzo. I felt the same loss, I think we all died a little that day. I never stopped listening to them and always thought it was such a shame that they might be forgotten. With these reaction channels discovering them anew it brings me some hope. I know it might sound weird, but this music was our lives and coursed through our blood.

There are a great set of vids with Jimmy page , edge, and jack white sitting, p,aging, talking. Not taking anything away from any of them, at one point page just walks over, straps up, and without saying a word, just steps into the opening of whole lots love. The other two look on like kids in a candy store, if you haven’t have to watch the live version of that song. “Swagger” would be an understatement

You know, my brother had ALL the Zeppelin albums when I was about 13, and the little bit that I heard just didn't speak to me at the time (although I did like the studio version of Stairway). I wasn't really listening to any other music at the time either. Through my teen years, the two albums that "struck my fancy" were "The Wall" by Pink Floyd, and "Night at the Opera" by Queen. However when I was 18 (1983), I "accidentally" wound up with a cassette of Zeppelin's first album. The band was no more, and people had generally moved on to whatever Hollywood and MTV were churning out at the time... the "hair bands". I put the tape on out of curiosity, having absolutely no clue what was on it... and my mind was blown! I had been performing music in high school, and had been exposed to many different traditional musical styles. When I heard Zeppelin, I was amazed at how their music embodied traditional styles, then injected it with music steroids! Anyway, the point is that something may not appeal to you at one point in life, but then you might "discover" it later in life. Once I discovered Zeppelin, I was ravenous for more! I can't recall listening to anything else for a few years... ROCK ON! Maybe in ten years your daughter will go "Oh my God, check out this band I "discovered". 😁 When Zeppelin released "How the West Was Won" (live stuff from 1972) in 2004, there were alot of high school and college age kids going "OMG, check out this new band!!" 🤣

So what you were thinking of as a "key change", is just the "effect" of Jimmy's crazy phrasing when they play live. On their studio versions, there are always multiple guitar tracks "harmonizing" with each other. Since Jimmy refused to use another guitar player for live performances, he created special "arrangements" for playing live. I don't know how much of it is "arranged" beforehand, and how much is just Jimmy improvising, but he's basically harmonizing with himself... 🤨🔥👍

The term for changing key mid-song is called modulation. Without going too deep into music theory, if you look up the "circle of fifths" you will see all 12 musical notes laid out in two circles representing the common major and minor keys. When modulating, they switch to a key that's close on that circle.

So many on the same level but a totally different sound. They take you to different places without a need of drugs to escape…Pink Floyd, VanHallen, Kansas, Rolling Stones, Aerosmith, STYX, Blue Oyster Cult, Black Sabbath, Eagles, KC and the Sunshine Band “Book of Dreams, BTO, Queen, ELO, Journey, Dire Straits, Fleetwood Mac and the list keeps going and going.
