As great as Jimmy, Robert and John Paul undoubtedly are, I think Jason stole the show that night. He was under so much pressure to deliver something that lived up to the family name, and he came through without any mistakes. John Paul again was the unsung hero, while Robert defied his age to sing songs from his twenties. Jimmy played so much better than Live Aid and Atlantic At 40, he was focussed and determined to give his best performance. One last great gig, and they pulled it off. They were right not to tour, the chances of duplicating this performance would have been slim at best. This is the best farewell.

*_I certainly do appreciate you sharing this and all the rest that you do Mr. Lewis!_* I was pretty impressed when you were able to list off the dates of the Led Zeppelin shows that you had attended. I seen them thrice but for the life of me can never remember the actual dates any further than the months, which are even foggy even though those concerts are three things that I will hopefully remember until the day I pass on. My first show was in October of 1972 which was their second show that year at the Bodokan and also two nights in a row at different arenas that didn't seem to be very far from one another, in Minnesota, USA April of 1977. I always kind of wondered why they didn't just do two nights in a row at one of the arenas, instead of having to move all of their gear the twenty or so miles away? Man, when I think about those dates, it makes me feel really old!

April 25, 1977 Freedom Hall Louisville, Ky. I seen Zeppelin live. General seating, so the whole floor area was standing, crowded, we made it maybe 20-25' from center stage. What a concert! This video was very cool, showing them arriving for the show. The only part that I wasn't crazy about was the rich being driven up and dropped off, except the band members. I bought 10 tickets to the Louisville show in '77, my buddy got cuts back in line and had the extra money to buy 10 more, so he had 20 ticket's. If I remember right, tickets were $8.50 each. Of course, scalped tickets were $100. I sold half mine at cost to friends. I went to see Lynyrd Skynyrd live at Louisville Gardens on April 23, 1977. Two day's before Zeppelin! I sold two tickets to Zeppelin at the Skynyrd concert for $50 each.. Needless to say, the guy was beyond excited to get his hands on tickets to Zeppelin. The Zep concert sold out at Freedom Hall in I think 2 hours, a record then. Robert even had his shirt unbuttoned, lol.

It would have been awesome to see this reunion. It blows me away to view comments from a generation that never had the chance to see them live; and yet the love for the band is there. I first heard Led Zeppelin in 69...yeah I've been around awhile. I was 26 years old in 1970 and they were my first concert. They played 2 nights in a row in 1975 in Vancouver. I got to see both performances. In 1977 they played Seattle. It was the final one. I got to see many of my favorite bands over the years... I even became acquainted with Elvis Costello. Nothing tops. We can all share freely our opinions and beliefs and everybody is free to agree or not. I was just saying don't follow false mortal idols but eternal treasures. I chase after everlasting possessions not those that fade away. You can be famous and rich your whole life but end up with empty hands in the end. I never bothered to apply for 02 tickets, as without Bonham Sr. it wasn't the same band anymore. Without Percy they would be a mere shadow of what they once were.

At the end of this video it sounded like a woman was being killed. If I would have been there, I would have started yelling random celebrity names like DAME EDNA DAME EDNA DON'T SNUB ME DAME EDNA. CHAKA KAHN CHAKA KAHN !!! ENSLOW FROM KEEPING UP APPEARANCES ENSLOW ENSLOW. MENUDO MENUDO !!! JACKIE CHAN OVER HEAR JACKIE CHAN. The celebs would have been pissed off at me for getting their names wrong. But, what memories it would have been.

This is not so much for me - I'm not bitter - I got to see Zep in '77, and have seen all the Page and Plant stuff since them. I know this is corny, but it's for somebody/anybody who never got to see Zep live, specifically the ones few tried as I did before the O2 show. The marketing firm for the label ran a contest - show us that you are the biggest Zep fan. The contestant that won blatantly and flagrantly ignored the stated rules, and the organization running the contest refused to respond to later communication from me. The rules stated that you cannot directly endorse any product, manufacturer or service, nor can you directly support any kind of illegal activity. I watched the "winner's" video. During his equipment display, every instrument's name was shown and he listed all of them (Gibson, Alembic, Ludwig, etc...). Same with amps and effects. Then he went on to show his bootleg collection. There were other gaffes I'm sure, but this is what I remember. It was so incredibly blatant and brazen that I had to try to do something. Nothing was subtly done, and he either didn't read the rules and/or ignored them. In either case, this is not a case of one rule being stretched and/or misinterpreted. Several very clear and specific rules were blatantly and repeatedly broken his video, and he should have been disqualified immediately.I took the effort to cover up all brand names with masking tape, and never mentioned any manufacturer's name. Played a verse and a chorus from a couple of different songs in each instrument. Took film of my library, took film of my memorabilia, and took film of the Zeppelin Department of my Classic Rock Basement. So congrats to the cheating winner. I guess he figured he had to go all out to win.And the record label // marketing company? Impossible to get a hold of. Sent numerous correspondences to no avail.
