It does not get better than Zeppelin in their prime! If you've not heard their song Tea For One, it is a very underrated jam.

Now this is rock n roll! The very definition. Page has a unique combination of power, but brings the charm and playfulness too.

This is a great performance that was recorded on Jimmy's 26th birthday. This song is a blues number originally written by Willie Dixon and performed by Sonny Boy Williamson and Zep gave it a hard rock edge. You are correct, the vocalist/harmonica player is Robert Plant (Jimmy Page on guitar, John Paul Jones on bass, and John "Bonzo" Bonham on drums). Things that can affect the sound of a guitar are the use of various effects pedals as well as using the volume and tone knobs as well as the pickup selector switch all of which are on the guitar itself. If they're in the studio, there's more things that can be done like using different amplifiers and other effects that can be added in the post production.

It was based on the Willie Dixon song but most it is completely different except for the intro and outro verses. But that was enough for Chess Records to sue for copyright violation, although they ended up settling with them out of court.

I believe that this was the song that they closed the show with, plus it closed out the album too. You should check out how they opened this show with back to back songs Wer're gonna groove straight into I Can't Quit You Baby. Definitely an epic opener. Check it out.

I had the album. My girlfriend and our friends saw Zeppelin at a Day on the Green concert in Oakland California back in '77. Jimmy Page pointing his bow at me when I hollered his name from about 30 feet away on the field made my experience there forever unforgettable.

One of my favorite albums by anyone, killer track, studio is the better mix but live they just explode in your face. They have endless content on You Tube between their catalog and the many live concerts, you should be reacting to them for a very long time. Lucky you (and us!). Try Heartbreaker/Living Loving Maid off that album, it is a two fer banger! Looking great Angela. Enjoy. 🎵🎸🎤🎹🎶

Back then , distortion was a result of the sounds being VERY loud. They may have had pedals for that then , not sure. Nothing like a beautiful woman dancing to my favorite 70's band ❤ 😊 ✌️

Great reaction ..... Great question re guitar distortion. There is a whole history of how guitarists have distorted sound all the way back to the 50's with Amplifiers, Pedals, The Fuzz Box ! The Wah Wah (Jimi Hendrix ) and in the 80's distortion units became digital and incredibly versatile . Guitarists sometimes became associated with specific distortion pedals/effects. Different guitars with different pickups and different amplifiers used in different ways all produced unique sounds even before distortion effects were introduced. Just to say that its a big subject to a pertinent question x

Everything that is best about Zep is in this song. Plant’s vocals, a gut wrenching riff, driving rhythm section, harmonica, sexual references and misdirection.

I personally would suggest to anyone reviewing older music to listen to the studio version first. When you listen to live recordings it’s hard if not impossible to really get the song you’re listening to. People typically bought albums with the radio version first and the artist would later release a live album. But fans would know the song, the words etc first. REO’s Live You Get What You Play For is only 1 album that I preferred the live version to the studio version.

They make distortion pedals. The distortion started as an artifact of vacuum tube design, as the volume went up the sound distort (the technical term is clip), so you could just crank your amp. Things have way more sophisticated over the years, but they had pedals aka 'stomp boxes' by the time this was recorded. This allows you the change the sound on the fly. I do prefer the original, which is by Sonny Boy Williamson and written by Willie Dixon, and released in the mid sixties. LZ covered a lot of Willie Dixon's songs, one infamously uncredited.

Actually the Kinks are responsible for distortion, started with Dave Davies slashing his amps speakers.
