The deposition of semen, bacteria and debris in the uterus of the mare after breeding/insemination normally induces a self-limiting endometritis.
Fluid and inflammatory products should be cleared by 48 hours post cover/insemination.
However, there are mares that are susceptible to persistent POST-BREEDING ENDOMETRITIS and should be treated accordingly.
