Lecture: Picasso's "Year of Wonders"

Nancy Ireson, deputy director of collections and exhibitions and Gund Family Chief Curator at the Barnes Foundation, explores a singularly transformative year in Picasso’s career.
In the summer of 1932, the art world eagerly awaited Picasso’s first retrospective exhibition, curious to see how he would build on the innovations of his early career. The artist did not disappoint. In his 50th year, Picasso produced some of his most iconic works, drawing from personal experience and from an interest in the wider issues of the day. In celebration of Picasso: Drawing from Life, this lecture offers a journey through Picasso’s “Year of Wonders.”
