I love the story Bourgeois told of her being at a certain party before Marcel Duchamp and Andre Breton, (3 Frenchies, imagine?). Anyway, she said to them that when she was a child she'd come across a 2 headed snail in her parents garden, and apparently was so disgusted that she picked up a rock and crushed it. Duchamp goes; "Now Louise, we don't have to be too intellectual, we don't need to be too arty." That cut her to the quick.
