Lecture 71: Tipperary So Far Away; The Death of Seán Treacy by Niamh Hassett and Daniel Jack
Tipperary So Far Away: The Death of Seán Treacy by Niamh Hassett and Daniel Jack facilitated by Marcus Howard
Seán Allis Treacy was one of the leaders of the Third Tipperary Brigade of the Irish Republican Army during the Irish War of Independence. It was his actions that initiated the conflict in 1919. He was killed in October 1920, on Talbot Street in Dublin, in a shootout with British troops and spies during an aborted British Secret Service surveillance operation.

Great stuff. If only we had men like Treacy and Breen today. God bless them both.
Thanks for a great presentation Con Horan
I took my guitar to Dublin during Easter week 2016 and played " the ballad of Sean Tracey" at the famous Moore Street on Easter Sunday and later at the site of his killing. This man is my favourite personal Irish hero and history will never forget him... UTR 7*...32
Fantastic. Thank you.
A history that wasn't taught in school. A heartbreaking story and such engaging telling of it.. i cant help but think of his mother as his body was dumped onto a truck. This presentation is of immense value. Ive just discovered this channel. Thank you.
