LeBron James Turned Down $10M Check In High School At 18 From Reebok - Steve Stoute Pitched Idea

LeBron James turned down $10M check at 18 from Reebok. Steve Stoute was happy even though it was his idea:
“I knew the world changed. A young Black man, 18 years old walked away from $10 million going back to the projects. I clapped and it was my idea that didn’t work.”

People hate greatness I remember watching this kid play ball in Boston summer league at umass Boston. He was only 18 just drafted to the NBA. I was in my mid 20’s probably 25 or 26 years old. I remember looking at him as he burst through his security on to the court and I’m like no one else here has security you can literally walk up to everyone and I’m talking bout hall of famers like Dominique Wilkins. But this kid was so confident and didn’t look anything like 18 years old I looked like I could have been his son. And it was crazy how the crowd was against him chanting over rated like it was a playoff game. I remember the very next play down the court he looked at his point guard made a head movement like throw the ball 🏀 up top he caught it with both hands and nearly tore the whole basketball hoop down 😮 he came down and just looked at the crowd like I not even trying this is summer league these guys are not on my level you could literally hear a pin 🧷 drop as he looked at the crowd in complete silence. Me and my friend both looked at each other in shock. I was like he’s only 18 years old little did I know at the time I was witnessing greatness!

It was an easy decision for Lebron as he mentioned in the interview that there was already a pre contract from Nike, meaning 10 miliion is nothing compared to Nike's offer at that time. So it was a walk in the park decision making for 18 years old Lebron.

I mean 🤷🏾‍♂️ Jordan fans try so hard to convince ppl he’s the goat they even try to argue non-court related endeavors like his shoes and the overall Jordan brand. If u wanna go that route then all I simply have to say is Jordan became a billionaire at 51, more than a decade after he retired. Lebron became a billionaire at 37 while still playing and still receiving Max contracts.

  • @Travelbum3000

@@adh22982 things….First, you don’t have to do any convincing with Jordan. Around the league & universally ppl will say he is the best & his resume speaks for itself & that was proven in Cleveland for the 75th anniversary when Jordan got a standing ovation (in Lebron’s backyard). And second, who cares who became a billionaire first they 💰is they 💰& don’t benefit you or me. When talking strictly basketball Lebron is not in Jordan’s league. That is all!

LeBron was very smart in the way he moved. But, he also had good people in his ear to help guide him. Financial literacy is a must and the ability to not only read the fine print but comprehend what your reading. Never be afraid to ask questions and say NO. Sometimes you got tell people unequivocally absolutely NO and walk away from certain situations.
