Caitlins impact on the WNBA is undeniable and her shine is well deserved however, the league and the press does miss a golden opportunity when it comes to marketing because there's one other player who's statically shining as a rookie just the same as Caitlin, and that's Reese. Right now these two are 1&2 for rookie of the year, and Reese was on the team in college that put an end to Caitlins title run. My point is that the league has a chance at their first woman's Bird Magic advertising blitz which is more favorable than any singular player. People will say what about MJ, and my push back will be that Bird and Magic started it all for the NBA coming from college to the NBA, and Jordan came after. Reese stopped Caitlin in college, and she just might be that same player to do it in the WNBA, and then what?

@@tyronewilliams2007 Then what? What’s your point? CC’s shine will wear off eventually? It’s not AR that’s attracting money and drawing the huge crowds. I also think AR’s assists are bloated since she misses 60% of her shots that aren’t being considered in the assists stats.

@@Jagnyy55441 Let's be clear here, everyones shine will wear off at some point in time, and nobody gets to escape that reality, nobody. My point is that there are two stand out stars in the WNBA but the focus is on one, and you know this as well as I do because you're watching it play out just like I am. Both Caitlin and Reses have problems like any rookie including the great Kobe Bryant who averaged 6 points a game in his first year and came off the bench, and his second year averaged 15 coming off the bench, so both Caitlin and Reses have more of an upside than not just like Kobe. Caitlin turns the ball over a lot, Reese gets her own rebounds. The WNBA has 2 stars that should be marketed like Bird and Magic just like they are 1&2 up for rookie of the year.

@@tyronewilliams2007 You’re comparing apples to oranges friend. While I agree they could definitely be the next Magic and Byrd.. the narcissist league will never allow it. Jealous women do not support other women. It took someone like CC who has the marketability companies like Nike look for. People like to relate to their sports idols. That’s what was missing from the wnba.. they didn’t have anyone with a relatable personality.. BG brought shame to the league.. they’ve been on life support since the league began.. until CC

@@Jagnyy55441 I can agree with you on everything you said here because I think that the womens emotions and feelings are keeping them from doing great things. My point about the NBA in comparison to the WNBA is that the NBA was in this same position until Bird and Magic came out of college, that was the birth of the NBA we see today with the TV contracts and other things that pays for the major contracts, that's where the WNBA is today. Caitlin is the face of the league but, use Caitlin to also promo other players, everybody wins in the long term.

I am a new WNBA fan from the 🇵🇭. I have never watched WNBA games. I don't know any WNBA superstar. I am not familiar with any WNBA player either. I only began to watch WNBA games recently bcoz of Caitlyn Clark. I found out Caitlyn Clark only early this year in her last playing days in WNCAA with Iowa. Started following her since then and now that she's already in the WNBA with the Indiana Fever.

tbf, that double-double streak is a major new WNBA record... that said, triple doubles are extremely rare in the WNBA: never been done by a rookie (and she nearly had two in like 5-6 days!!!). for the WNBA, this is on the same level as Wembanyama's rookie year (he matched and surpassed a rookie record that only hall of famer Tim Duncan achieved). it seems inevitable that CC will do the same to Sue Bird's rookie stats.

For the next 50 to 100 years, virtually every time a record is broken, it's going to be a Caitlin Clark record. Championships are team records. Caitlin's records, instead, reflect her individual efforts. I'm reminded of the apocryphal story that Don Drysdale was told that his teammate, Sandy Koufax, had thrown a no-hitter and Drysdale asked, "Who won?". Caitlin just delivered a box score that has never occurred before in the history of the WNBA OR THE NBA. Who won? She is victimized by the system of parity. Chosen as the #1 draft pick, naturally, by the worst team.
