LEBANON: Historic BYBLOS, world's oldest inhabited city

Tour of city of Byblos, Lebanon - travel guide, what to see in Byblos in Lebanon. Let's visit the legendary city of Byblos which is a Mediterranean city in the Mount Lebanon Governorate, Lebanon. Byblos is believed to have been occupied first between 8800 and 7000 BC, and Byblos is one of the cities suggested as the oldest continuously inhabited city in the world and the site has been continuously inhabited since 5000 BC. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Byblos, modern Jbail, also spelled Jubayl, or Jebeil, biblical Gebal, ancient seaport, the site of which is located on the coast of the Mediterranean Sea, about 20 miles (30 km) north of the modern city of Beirut, Lebanon. It is one of the oldest continuously inhabited towns in the world. The name Byblos is Greek; papyrus received its early Greek name (byblos, byblinos) from its being exported to the Aegean through Byblos. Hence the English word Bible is derived from byblos as “the (papyrus) book.”

The harbors northern tower was rebuilt with stones taken from dismantled roman buildings . The original southern towers remains are now in the water you can see the foundation floor submurged .. There is something very few know about near the southern tower and that is the hidden ancient tombs carved inside the large black rocks in the water , no one can see them , you have to climb on top , this is why barely anyone knows they're there
