@@TheMuslimLantern what this guy is describing is called Advaita vedanta. I used to be a follower of Advaita vedanta before accepting Islam. The problem with this concept is that it is very subjective. We as people are not all knowing, all seeing, all hearing, all powerful, all wise and we are not free from imperfections. The gurus and followers of this belief system are as human as anyone else. They fo get, make mistakes, don't know the future, even have to ask what time of day it is. They have all the same human shortcomings as anyone else. If they are not all knowing and all wise this means they can make mistakes like anyone else. Meaning they can also go to war like anyone else.

Ameen, I think what he means by unsafe is unease, or anxiety. It could be a result of malnutrition, modern society technology and many more issues. He is just inquiring, not everyone indoctrinated into Islam is Muslim, as you said may Allah guide him and us.

The History of al-Tabari, Vol 6, pg. 111: That evening Gabriel came to him and reviewed the surah with him, and when he reached the two phrases which Satan had cast upon his tongue he said, "I did not bring you these two." Then the Messenger of God said, "I have fabricated things against God, and have imputed to Him words which He has not spoken."  “I have fabricated things against Allah/god and have imputed to Him words which He has not spoken.” ~MUHAMMAD (Al-Tabari 6:111) - Al-Tabari says Mohammed confessed his sins…. 2. Then Gabriel came to the apostle and said , "What have you done, Muhammad? You have read to these people something I did not bring you from God and you have said what He did not say to you." (Ibn Ishaq, p. 166)  I ascribed to Allah, what He had not said. (Ibn Sa'd, vol. 1, p. 237)- Ibn S’ad says Mohammed confessed his sin… Can any Muslim clarify these two evidences please?

I remember when I was trying to prove that all Abrahamic religions were false and I got to Islam and told my brother I was scared. Mainly because I could find nothing wrong with it no matter how many debates I watched and perspectives I saw. Not only that but it literally encourages you to keep studying. If I remained Christian I probably would've never knew the information I know about that religion.

precious advice to this young man, if you know Arabic, just read the Quran and recite it, believe it or not, all whispering from the devil will disappear and you will feel happy and confident and you will find answers to your question, many "revert people" want to learn Arabic to read and recite the Quran, but you have this blessing of Arabic language. read Al Baqara every day and you will see the change 😉

I LOVE Islam, and I could never ever, ever live without Islam in my life. It's his loss.

Issue is brother wants to Induldge in his desires whilst wanting to fit the narrative of a Good person according to his own standard he feels. He doesn't want to acklowedge reason and rational because it would contradict his belief and make him realise he is wrong.

Subjective morality isn't objective it keeps changing for example lgtv it was seen as bad in the past but now it is somehow good. In Islam if Allah says for example don't eat the right of the orphan we can never do that. or lower the gaze/wear a hijab.

There was a time when I was too afraid of Allah, so became an Atheist so that I would not be so afraid anymore. But, Allah was patient and He guided me back. So, I pray for him that Allah does the same for him, Amen :)

This is exactly why we dont bring in Philosophy into religion. It makes you doubt the basic questions that you already have answers for. Our religion is the Quran and the Sunnah. How do we avoid Philosophy creeping in? We go by the beliefs of the Companions and the Righteous predecessors in the first 300 years of Islam.( Surah Tawba 100 , Allah asks us to follow these people in Goodness ) They are the best generation of Mankind. We understand the religion exactly like how they understood it. This will avoid many confusions and keep us alert on any deviance. I ask Allah to guide us all to the straight Path.

This guy at the beginning said him and his friends did something "if you know you know" after that he became spiritual. This basically means him and his friends did Mushrooms or some other mind-altering drugs which gives you visions etc. Your brother might have been doing the same thing that led him to develop schizophrenia.

I really relate to Jad in how his brain is working. I’m Muslim from Makkah but lived in Australia and America between the age of 17 and 21. And I have to say I’m so lucky and grateful that Allah kept my heart firm and returned it and keeps clearing my mind more and more. People we surround ourselves with, places we go to and things we do or use, play greater role than we imagine in our level of iman, cognitive function, and sanity. Mia’s seems sincere to me. But the difference I see in my journey is that Allah has guided me to be tougher on my self and ask if I am wrong and open my mind to comprehend what I can’t even imagine to know.

He is among those who followed their own desires so he went stray.. the only reason people leave islam because there desires are taking control of them .

@equityjustice2695 Astaghfirullah is derived from religious context, but is used by Arabs of all faiths. It's like if you said "saying God Forbid implies belief in god", no, it doesn't, it's just a saying. The same goes for Insh'Allah, Alhamdulillah, or any other of the basic dhikr words or du'as in Islam, a lot of them are commonly spoken in arabic countries. If you don't speak arabic, just say that, don't go and point at what you assume to be facts and use them to back your claims.

Conciousness is when u have full TAWAKUL and believe that whatever Allah gives us is sufficient to us.

He's born in a Muslim family but grown up to love dunia and be a liberal or even an atheist or a philosopher. He doesn't even know the very basic what are the pillars of faith. He kept saying about how religious his family, but no this is about him as individual who clearly far removed from the teaching of Islam. I doubt he ever makes Shalah. A confused full of himself liberal.

He is just confused I was like him I had a question back in my past and there wasn’t any answer to make me satisfied so I was just left Islam after 13 years then Allah subhana wa taal guided me back to Islam he may just seen some different things and think that it’s nice not knowing or deep diving into his own religion to know that he got the best religion on the planet he just go with what he feels like right not knowing that right and wrong only can be knowing when the higher power tells you what’s right or wrong one he will understand this I hope he get it sooner before he leaves this world may Allah subhana wa taal guide us all to the path of the truth and live a life like he wants not how we want

I hope the brother reads my comment and in shaa allah whoever needs to read it, benefits. The fact that you feel this way about Islam after ‘doing stuff’, should be a sign that you were doing the wrong thing and instead of trying to find a way of life that justifies these actions, you should repent and promise not to return to the sin. What we know about spirituality and the pathway to Allah is from Allah ﷻ and as He mentioned, “He who desires a religion other than Islam, never will it be accepted of him; and in the Hereafter he/she will be among the losers.". The foundation of all of this is that the Quran is the truth. If you don’t have this, then the prerequisites are not met.

Like I understood him, he wants to do what he want without getting judged. Maybe he learnt something about Islam in the past, but he never get the message of Islam. If your reading this, first I recommend your to look at the evidence of Islam and then read about the sifāt (Attributes) of Allah like Esma-ul-husna

Really admire Brother Muhammad Ali's patience and clear understanding of his belief. I was probably raised in a similar environment with the Lebanese brother. Mostly liberal, devoted in doing the prayers, but lack of understanding on the foundational beliefs. Watching the Muslim Lantern's videos are one of the trigger that helps me realize that Islam is not all about strict rules and rituals but also about guidance in life that doesn't contradict when trying to understand it from a logical point of view. I think it's understandable for the Bro's parents to want him to connect with Muslim Lantern as I find Islam to be much easier to be understood when discussed within the context of rationality. On the other hand, also kind of understand that with his state of mind it will be hard to realize the errors in his flow of thought and be open minded enough to really listen what Muslim Lantern is trying to discuss, without judging him as (probably) 'just another Muslim Guy with their usual preach'. Hopefully he can neutralize and clear his mind before trying to get to know about Islam again, if there's a next chance 🙂
