I had privilege to watch Vlatko Leb i Sol on one of his best and very emotional concerts ever I reckon, 2018. It was In Melbourne, we thought he will cancel the concert because of the death of his brother just two days before the date. But no, he was professional to the core, he honoured his brother, we all sang, and cried, whole Balkan together in one space far away from home... thank you Rob

Vlatko Stefanovski - guitar doctor!

Vlatko Stefanovski is a great master of acoustic and electric guitar. He played with Tommy Emanuel and Stockelo Roseemberg in an acoustic supergroup. Differently best guitar player along with Radomir Mihalovic Tocak from a band named SMAK. Those two are best in EX Yugoslavia.

I'm a long time, hardcore fan of Vlatko Stefanovski. I've seen him live more than 30 times, stopped counting in his various iterations and combination, I never get bored. This song is actually least typical song for Leb i Sol or Vlatko, himself. It is different but it has such a nice vibe, relaxed and happy. They, as a band are mostly known for their fusion music, before it was even called fusion, Easies way to describe their music is ethno-jazz-rock.

Leb i Sol were on another level when it comes to bands in former Yu - their music was noy rock only, but a brew of rock, and some sort of fusion jazz. They masteted contrapuntal and no other band from the former Yu has merged the elements of the vernacular ethno music with those above mentioned. Their music was a poetry on another level. I loved their "Kumova slama" (The Milkyway).

God bless you Brother! Yes, you're right, it's "Knock on wood". If you translate the name of the band "Leb i sol", in english language, it means "bread and salt". And yes, Vlatko Stefanovski is, in my humble opinion, one of the most influential, prolific and talented guitar players ever. Like "Tocak". Not just here on the Balkan/Helm peninsula, but much wider. He's major musical influence was Ian Akerman from Dutch band "Focus". I had the oportunity to watch them live, when Vlatko was promoting his only blues oriented album called "Thunder from the open sky". You can find it here on youtube. Check it out, it is well worth it. Cheers!

The instrument in the song is a kind of mandolin. I am not sure what would be exact name on English. Btw, the name of the song: "Knock on the wood", relates to the old superstition from Balkan. Old belief that by knocking on the wood for 3 times you will have luck.
