This 3.0L Inline-6 Diesel engine is phenomenal! It's what pushed me into buying my 2024 Chevy Silverado 1500 ZR2 Bison. Between the several upgrades and smooth power delivery, this LZ0 diesel was the best choice. I like this power delivery better than the 6.2L V8 option (we have that in our Cadillac Escalade). The torque is amazing! 305hp and 495tq... power goes on quick and the forged steel internals offer great peace of mind. Forged steel pistons, forged steel connecting rods, and thickened forged steel cylinder walls... Combine that with the upgraded turbo, new cylinder head, new intake cam, new intake valves.... it makes for the perfect setup. The previous LM2 generation of this 3.0L Diesel has a great reputation already, this just took it to a whole new level! Very happy with this purchase so far. What are your thoughts? Still think I should have just bought another Toyota Tundra TRD Pro? lol.
Thanks for watching as always.

For a guy who buys and sells vehicles so often, i think this is a good move. As reliable as Toyota's are, its kinda moot if you're swapping vehicles out very often. Hot take, the big 3 just make nicer trucks than Toyota . Sure, maybe not as reliable, but still nicer. The f150, Ram 1500 and Silverado/Sierra ive all test driven several times, and the tundra just isnt as refined as any of them. Which makes sense, the big 3 rely more heavily on their full size lineup in their business model then toyota does, so they have a bigger budget to sink into them. Mike sweers himself has admitted that Toyota doesnt have the scalability or the budget that the domestic's have in this segment and they arent trying to attain that and it shows. The zr2 is a nice truck man, life's short. Enjoy that beast.

I was a Toyota guy for 14 years, I bought a 2023 ZR2 my only issue with my ZR2 is that it it isn’t a diesel engine and I plan on trading in my 23 ZR2 for a 2025 ZR2 Bison with the new 3.0L diesel, GM is Listening to customers Ford, RAM and especially Toyota isn’t. I won’t go with a woke Toyota with a battery engine enjoy paying $$$$ to replace those batteries 6 years from now. You’re not the only channel pushing the ZR2. TRDJon a diehard Toyota channel is also saying the same thing. Folks that buy a Raptor or TRX with a 700 HP engine can enjoy their 8 MPG claiming it’s their bug out truck😆. Yeah I’ll stick with the 3.0L diesel which makes a better overland truck.

America practically invented the Truck over 100 years ago. We know Trucks and Japan practically invented the compact car, so demographics kind of influenced trucks because of are wide open geographical country and Japan's over crowded, over populated country, with narrow roads influenced small cars.

I have a 2021 Colorado Bison v6. Best truck I’ve owned. I do all my maintenance and it’s been good to me. Idk why people have such a bad stigma towards GM. I’m coming from a 02 Nissan Frontier, which was an awesome truck, but I wanted to test out Chevy and it was time for an upgrade. I REALLY believe people don’t know how to maintain their vehicles. They go for cheap services. I’ll admit when my truck craps the bed, but it hasn’t. Forget the naysayers who probably never owned a GM. Good on you. You can’t knock it till you tried it. Plus you seem like a car enough guy to maintain your vehicle. Congrats on the truck.

Sad and disappointed that i switched from Ram after many years of solid ownership and few hundreds of thousands of miles on them, I wanted to try this Duramax. I drive all day 5 days a week and the lil 3.0 seems to be a solid little engine. Ill see what happens the next few years. im at 1660 miles now, week later and i love this thing. On the market for one as well. Talked to a farmer selling his 2020 ltz with the 3.0l he had 90,000 miles and said it never gave him any issues and it was the best truck he’s ever owned. I asked why he’s selling it and he opened his garage with a new 2024 parked in it lol he said he won’t buy anything else.

I love toyotas but for people are that brand loyal they are missing a ton of great vehicles. Love my toyotas of the past and the ones I have currently, but my 22 F350 tremor (and many other trucks these days) is absolutely fantastic. I think the Toyota SUVs are phenomenal but I find that the new Tundras and Tacomas are so behind when it comes to the trucks from the big three. AEV really is a nice upgrade to the GM trucks. I wish I had AEV parts available for our Super Duty which is fully built out, but I really wanted a ford over a ram. I think your new 1500 paired with a LC200 really checks all the boxes.

As a Toyota fanboy I don't blame you for this move. I think Toyota has lost their way at least in regards to their loyal core buyers and what they covet in the brand. Times change and companies have to grow and adapt but I no longer think they offer the best half-ton or compact trucks on the market. I am by no means a GM fanboy but I think you have a better truck there with the compact diesel than you would with a Tundra and that awful turbo six. Best of luck with the truck but I doubt it'll be an issue as you most likely won't still have it come this time next year given your track record lol.

The fuel pump with some lubricity added to the fuel (dry ULSD) with something like a HotShot's Secret EDT and Diesel Extreme could easily extend the "expected" lifespan, no guarantees, but 100K is not written in stone, also the oil pump belt is a Kevlar reinforced belt that has shown extremely good lifespan in any engine that has had it inspected or replaced so far (due to rear main seal leaks usually), and showed no signs of failure (missing teeth, cracking, etc.) on engines with 140K+ miles, there is no reason to believe that good oil change intervals won't keep that belt in fine shape well past 200K. I will be very surprised if you get the MPG's you claim others are getting, I am getting approximately 24 MPG in my 24 ZR2 w/LZ0 compared to 27.4 MPG in my 21 RST w/LM2 due to the 2" factory lift, more aggressive tires, no front air dam, a bit more weight, and I hyper mile a good bit to see how good an MPG I can get. Still, a good video, and a GREAT truck, I really enjoy mine!
