    Apparently the authorities in Bali are thinking of banning foreigners from hiring motorcycles, and scooters, due to the fact many tourists aren't wearing helmets, speed and wear open shirts when riding, of there might be leeway for motorcycle license holders.

    I think motorcycle companies and designers hope and pray that their bikes end up in front of someone like you Freddie. Someone that takes the time to understand the culture of where they are, the intent and purpose of the bike, and how the two interact with each other in such an empathetic way. You two are doing the industry a great service.

Great video and glad you're back to full strength, the food does look stunning and very healthy. Greetings from down under. Thanks for taking us along Freddie and Monika. Visiting Bali in the 70,s and 80,s last century was a vastly different experience. My budget was $1aud per day including accomodation in a homestay losmen. That included breakfast of a bowl of bananas and a thermos of hot sweet tea. When we could budget for it our go to transport was to hire pushbikes or travel to the mountains by local bemo. Love your work. Thanks again.

    Another awesome video From you both, the scenery is breathtaking the roads look very good too not a pothole to be seen!!! Also l didn’t see any road signs anywhere so a sat nav would be paramount, no speed signs either so presumably no speed cameras? Glad your over you Bali belly Freddy l hope you had a good supply of loo rolls lmao. Keep the videos coming Freddy they’re excellent. N.B. I think the beeb should give you and Monica your own travel show.

  • @FreddieDobbs

    Very well observed- I’d never even considered this and you’re spot on- there are almost no road signs, no speed signs- nothing at all. It’d be close to impossible to navigate without satnav, and I genuinely have no idea what any speed limits are here😆

  • @faisalarh

    @faisalarh

    Жыл бұрын

    @@FreddieDobbs when travelling in the city the established speed limits are 50 kph (or stated otherwise on the speed limit sign), when in and around a village/settlement the speed limits are 30 kph (or stated other wise). And when going out between the city/regency, the speed limits are up to 80 kph (unless stated otherwise), because all over Indonesia, only in Bali there's a toll road available for motorcycle, with protected lanes separate from four wheelers and up.

We only found out the next morning at breakfast, that pretty much everyone had evacuated the building and gone to high ground. Hi Freddie and Monika, I can’t begin to tell you how much I enjoy watching your video. Since you travel a lot, let me recommend a very simple but important “first aid” to keep in mind. At any given time when you have to endure stomach upset, whether a 24 hour stomach flu or unduly food that you think you might have eaten, the best medicine to have is either to drink sprite or seven up until your stomach settles. And if you have altitude sickness in case you hit the Andes or some high altitude places, drink Gatorade or some drink that will help your electrolytes. These two drinks will work like magic. Although, maybe someday you might want to go on a bike ride on the Hawaiian islands, I hope to see you on Waikiki where I live. Continue your journey and always be safe.🏄‍♂️🏄‍♀️🏄

    Glad you're better. Get a Kindle and read novels, Freddie. Start with mine 😀. I'm surprised anyone buys bike magazines anymore. When I was in Tokyo in the early '90s, I subscribed to BIKE. It was the highlight of my month when it arrived. Apart from the nights out in Roppongi. 13:07 Aerox alert. Yamaha Aerox 155: my scooter in Thailand. The scenery is not so different from northern Thailand. For example, 18:53 could easily be less than a kilometre from where we live, just north of Chiang Rai City. The rice fields, the palms trees, the mountains in the distance.

Its amazing how weak u become in a short time. I hope I get to see Bali one day truly wonderful. Thanks for bringing this to us. I think your productions could really be mainstream tv series. Amazon are you watching.. One thing has struck me is that since 1976 I have never not owned a motorcycle commuter from c50/70/90 yamaha t80 (shaft drive… yes) 125cc and commuter all year round. An now 64 and only had one crash in ice. I visited Bali in 1986. Like all places, especially those reliant upon tourism, the march of time has not been kind to a lot of that lovely Island. Looks like there are still a few stunning places remaining though.

    i suggest you to have your own sarong, it's very convenient stuff to wear when you're in a cold area to warm your body, you can also wear it as picnic mat when you're on the beach, or to dry yourself when it's rain and you have no towels around, and sarong is a must when you enter praying area whether it's a Hindu temple or a the mosque of Muslim.

    A beautiful episode Freddie & Monika. The tourist area all looks a bit too frenetic for my taste but your trip to the country and the tranquility of the restaurant and Hindu temple was on a different level. Hope the internal volcanics have all settled and you’re back to full strength. Stay safe you two and thanks for my favourite Sunday morning armchair adventure.

    Interesting guy's as I sit here with the snow melting outside sipping my caramel latte watching this I am thinking that I would not really want to go there .This surprises me a little because I had thought that Bali would be like a paradise kind of place but it really isn't , wet damp humid and I am guessing with all that standing water a lot of mosquitos and other nasties and to my complete surprise the food does not appeal from what you have shown .Sorry to hear you have been ill Freddie this was also a surprise since you are both vegetarians /vegans ,but I guess even non meat eaters can get food poisoning😁 . My wife ha it in Spain once and it was not nice at all it took a good few days out of the holiday .Great watch though guys well done 😉👌👍

    Bali definitely isn’t for everyone. It’s strangely un-relaxing, because there are no proper pavements, it’s relentlessly humid, the roads have no real rules… and I could go on and on😆 I totally understand why some would not like it at all🙂

    Thanks for the video. I avoid Bali Belly by going to busy restaurants, where the turnover of food is high. I have a local debit card - BCA FLAZZ. This card is used in supermarkets, the toll road and the Trans Metro Dewata buses. I can top up the BCA FLAZZ card by inserting cash into a BCA ATM.
