What a great yacht. Unfortunately I got into sailboast at an early age when large power was always my passion. A lot of planning and stress in operating a big yacht like that in close quarters. Depending on my mood, at times I just assume pay a Captain to handle those responsibilities. Nice to get your chops down though and thoroughly learn how to operate and understand the boat just as you've done. Captain of your own ship. Those old school 2 stroke Detroit's sound awesome. Music to my ears. Thanks for posting.

I enjoyed this first person experience video of the Hatteras 54? My family had a Bayliner command bridge and whenever one of these would pass by I was star struck. Hatteras used to be king of the hill.

Bring it back memories for me Captain used to make that run all the time running bunker barges out of Charleston way up to Cape Fear River. Be careful the been there in head of you there's a little bar. Always like to clean the bottom of the barge Ride Along. Bar. Some captains would say we was running the ground but in reality I was just cleaning the bottom of the barge. Beautiful boat you have there. My Old tugboat she ran 16 92 series. Basically it was two 8 92 series bolted together.

Bill Willetts Bill that boat is nice. I seen a lot of your videos and I was wondering how you started out, and were you new at it when you got the first boat? I started out with the 16 foot boat and then went to a 24 footWith a cabin around 1985 had it parked in Ridley Marina . I took my 24 foot to Penns landing and stopped at a dealer to trade it in and they test drove it and the guy hit the throttle to test it and the gear stripped and he said it was because they turned the gears around on the good side and half of them were stripped . He said they were not allowed to fix it that they needed to get someone else there to fix it. I left it there and they turned around and fixed it and called me with a bill And I told them I didn’t authorize you to touch The boat.Period in the middle of the night the dealer ran to New Jersey with all the boats and I went to the Philadelphia police and they were screaming at me and my wife when I told them this dealer robbed our boat, I thought I was in the twilight zone.. I called the New Jersey State police and they found my boat and they said these guys are bad and they told them if you try to touch the title we will come after you. They found the boat and it was all messed up I just left it there and paid off the balance of the loan. A lot missing to the story And if the grammar is bad it’s because I’m using speech to text.

@@billwilletts Thanks Bill. I watched your video tour with Nick. Really nice. You did some incredible work to her. She's definitely a keeper. At 1200-1400 RPM's and 10-12 knots and 10mpg, that's not bad at all. I just restored a 50' Riva with twin MAN 510's and I like that 1200 RPM/10 knot range as well, though I have to open her up for about 5-10 minutes every hour, and at 25 knots, she's drinking 173L/hour, and at 10 knots, she's also about 10gph; but, with only 600 gallons on board, my range is more limited. So as I said, my next MY will most likely be an LRC, though I would definitely look at the wide bodies now. Saves quite a bit on dockage, and yet you have the wide beam.

What a silly comment! This man is responsible for the boats safe passage as well as the people who are on board with him. He is not annoying, he is through and a good captain doing what needs to be done to ensure a safe fun trip. Internet arm chair captains are always an amazement to me..

What's annoying about an experienced captain going through to protocols and checklist of getting his boat ready? He's annoying because he talks to people?

After looking at your profile pic, I now understand why you made that comment. You're a go fast boat asshole with a "look at me" complex. Wouldn't have wanted to leave this comment section with everyone not knowing you had been here.
