So much depth and meaning can be found in this movie and I'm glad I was able to condense some of the best parts into this edit. It starts off with a shot of a beach polluted with plastics and trash. It then goes into the little girl being aware of the ship heading towards them, signifying the danger to come. Then things escalate as the characters realize with what is happening. Through the edit, you get glimpses of how awful people can be, like when Clay left that lady for dead on the side of the road. And it ends beautifully with Amanda speaking on how human nature can be cruel and selfish. This ties back to the beginning with the shot of the trash on the beach because if humans would treat the Erath like a trash can (the thing that gives us life) imagine how they would treat strangers. We live in a society that only looks out for their own, is very divided, and uninterested in anything that doesn't benefit themselves. This behavior and lack of care for others and the planet is what's going to doom us all.
