Hi folks. In this video, I return to Cefn Hill opposite the Hay Bluff on the borders with Herefordshire and Wales to fulfill a pledge to clean up a camping mess left behind by some other people. On the way, I meet Dave a local farmer. He tells me of the Welsh language and of the hill. After the clean up I speak of the mission and the code. It's a poignant message. Later I recycle the rubbish in Hay-On-Wye during the Hay-On-Wye Literary Festival. After 8 miles - job is done.

It’s so hard to understand why some people can disrespect the great outdoors or any were come to that by just leaving there rubbish behind when they leave I mean they obviously camped there because its such a beautiful place so there mentality is to just trash the area so ignorant and disrespectful, well done mark for cleaning up and filming it to as this does help bring the problem to the public, you did a good job mate well done, don’t let them get you worked up it don’t do your mental any good(easier said than done Ay)keep well and healthy,Les.

They're babies mate. Well, had to be don - you certainly would have done the same thing. Re-the anger - I was alright here but on the river I did flip out. No, no good for one's health. Thanks mate. Good on you for fulfilling your pledge, Mark and you're dead right; it doesn't take much to return to a location. If we've witnessed something that's not okay, we can take responsibility where others before us have not. Those people that then follow may pass it by. They may not even notice. I hope you do upload that other video from beside the Wye. Keep spreading the message. Leading by action! All the best to you.

Nice one, Mark! You certainly are a man of your word! I just don't understand why people don't want to respect our beautiful countryside. Some people say it's all about educating the young, but sadly, I think some just don't give a ****!!! But the biggest respect and thanks to you! I loved that swing! I bet it was perfect for just having a mindfulness moment. Cefn Hill is beautiful with stunning views. Take care, Jenny 😊

We have to follow through Jenny - who are we if we don't? Well, many are reflecting the throw away consumer ideal, which is still very much a part of our reality. And of course they think nature is there to serve them. Re-the swing I'd loved it just swaying amid such a beautiful view. They put it in the right place. Many thanks Jenny. Take care. Mark

Mark what a splendid deed - the word that you use to describe these kind of people is correct! It is always amazing that they will to go to the effort of carrying this full and heavy stuff to a beautiful spot (or indeed any place) but they do not have the respect to nature or other folk to take the relatively lightweight debris away. Agree with many of the other comments here which I hope indicates that 'They' are still in the minority.... well done Sir! 🦾

Hey Mark! How strange your video should be on this subject!! I was walking the stank alongside the Lugg approaching Mordiford Bridge. I'd walked the length of the Meadows from Lugwardine to Mordiford to meet my mate, looked over into the field and there was exactly the same mess on the bank as youve cleared up in this video beer bottles an cans, 2 bbqs, boxes and wrapping from the food theyd had, and a KFC bucket with the bones in!!! Ive always got bags (black and supermarket) in my rucksack so i got it all up, no broken glass thankfully when my mate and i were ready to leave, he lives near a pub, so we stopped there, dropped it in their wheelie bins, had a pint, then back to his for the England game!!! It was a good feeling, but not as gratifying as catching the messy buggers in the act would have been! Take care Mark, see you out there. Peace brother😂

The number of locations I have been too and there has been loads of crap, just dumped, old tangled fishing line, sometimes with hooks still attached and all sorts of other junk and sadly, left by other fishermen which is just disheartening. Absolutely right, if we all do the same then perhaps our wild camping will not be refused. Hi there Sue. Yes, a decent campaign worth investing in again. For sure had to be done - you know follow through. Any way I couldn't leave such a special place like that. As you rightly point out it's impacting on all our lives - up in Scotland too. Ah, lazy bastards and babies. That video? I really did flipp out. All the vest Sue. Peace. Mark

Well done for cleaning all that crap up mate! It’s infuriating isn’t it , honestly people must be beyond brain damaged to defile beautiful places like that, I can’t understand why anyone would do that. It looked boggy in that one clip , very wet cold and poor summer we are having aren’t we. Sad to see the dead fox, he’s just trying to survive and needs meat to live , unfortunately the farmers lambs are easy pickings I guess. But farming is a business at the end of the day , as you say man vs animal very true. How was your ankle on the trip? Best wishes

Hello again. I really don't understand people. So, they bought beers in the store, then carried them or drove them to the place where they had fun, they drank beers and it was difficult for them to store the bottles in a backpack or in the car and take them to the first place and throw in the trash can. I will never understand it. Mountaineers have a saying...take your trash back with you. Cheers. 🖐😀😉
