    The idea of a waterproof boot certainly appeals to me, but I wonder... even if the membrane is very breathable, how much vapor can escape when so much of the membrane is covered with TPU and other non breathable materials?

    I am committed to buying these as my next boot. Just wish RM carried them in a size 7. Also curious as to if anyone uses these in warm dry weather...

    I have the new sand colored Astar tech 7 drystar, and the calf opening isn't big enough. The widest position lets water in and will barely close at the top. My calves are 16.5 diameter before knee guards. I'm not a big guy. 5'10 -200 llbs, sz 10 boot. But huge calves from years of running, climbing, and riding. A bike board member said he had the same issue, and that these offer a bigger top opening. It would be great if you guys include this point in your reviews!!

    I like the 4.5 because it has the pivot point on the inner side of the boot, why they got rid of it for the 5.5 i don’t understand, i also like that the clips on alpine stars because they have one clip that is the opposite way as the others which eliminates the pinch point

    I like the waterproof feature of this boot. How would you compare it to the Gaerne SG22 in terms of protection and comfort? I ride hard enduro with water crossings and trying to decide between this boot and the SG22.

    The SG22 are stiffer and I would say have more ankle support than the 4.5. But, I've ridden in the 4.5 and I do really like them. Another note is durability, there aren't many boots that will outlast a Gaerne. The SG22 is very water resistant but definitely no waterproof, so that might be another kid factor for you. - Chase

    Just got my pair from you guys and the left boot fits well, but the right boot is... severely uncomfortable around my right ankle (specifically the malleolus). I tried them in for an hour while watching TV. I want to like these boots, but it's hard if they're causing enough pain. BTW, I never had an injured ankle.

    Is it hurting just above you your right ankle bone? I dealt with the same issue. In fact, Leat sent me a pair with updated padding around the ankle but I don't think the update has hit the floors yet. - Chase

My advice buy a the best boot you can not these Sorry Leatt these don’t work as you claim they all seem to go for Gearne SG12… just saying….

    I’m considering new motocross style boots for adv riding, but they need to be waterproof. So I’m considering these and the Tech 7 Enduro Drystars. Which would you recommend?

    We haven't tested these back-to-back for waterproofing, but I have ridden on both of these boots and personally, I like the Leatt more. I've also been told that the hydradri liner is a good option. - Chase

    Not sure if you’ve already purchased, but Drystar doesn’t even have a waterproof rating. Leatt waterproofing is better. Tech 7 has better straps, but the Leatt is more protective. Biggest issue I had with Leatt when trying them on is that the cut out for the ankle bones seem to sit slightly too high. Had to put in a heel pad to raise my foot up a little bit so that it’s more comfortable.

    Is it too stiff for an adventure boot?

  • @rmatvmc

    @rmatvmc

    Жыл бұрын

    It would be stiff for walking a lot off the bike, but for riding, it would be a great boot! Last year, at the Idaho Adventure Rally, I saw many riders using a motocross boot on their ADV bikes. I seems like many riders are willing to give up some comfort off the bike for more protection while riding. - Chase

    I’ll be getting these to use for dual sport and light ADV use in Idaho. For the amount of time I’m actually walking, I’ll take the protection and waterproofing over some of the less protective and robust ADV style boots. I ride off-road in the 5.5 and that is a burly boot. Chase is right, the 4.5 is a lot like the tech 7 in terms of comfort and weight, but with better peg and lever feel.
