Boiled water and a little dish soap, immerse the Wave so that all the oils and dirt come out. Dry it and don't put any more oils, it will no longer be difficult to open and close the tools. The problem with lubricants is that they accumulate dirt, so they do more harm than good

Nice review, got the old wave for about 6 years now and the opening of the pliers was never an issue to me. Maybe if I’d try out spring loaded pliers the wave would start to bother me but not right now. Every time I need to use them so far I’ve had both hands available to open them up. After that they can be fully used with 1 hand. Over 90% ov the times I use the wave I only need the serrated or normal knife though.

The stiffness is because of the coating. Use the tool and it will loosen up. I have a black Wave, Surge, Signal, Super Tool 300, Skeletool, OHT, and Charge. They were all stiff when I got them because the coating had to wear off the pivots during break in (only took me a week) and then they became every bit as smooth as the non-black ones. The non-blacked out versions come super smooth

Not bad. I don't use it nearly as much as I used to since I'm not doing manual labor anymore, but it has stood up pretty well. The pivots have lost the most coating, and there are light scratches over the whole tool, but not flaking or anything to complain about.

@ianshobbies7184

It is showing some signs of wear after a few months of use. Pretty much all small scratches. Notably the blades and the circular pivot parts on the pliers. Also, if you want to get a pocket clip, the coating on that wears off really quickly. It is certainly better than a 20$ gerber black DLC I've had on a knife, but hasn't blown me away. Also, with my issue of stiff pliers, I'm curious if the black coating is contributing to that issue. If I bought it again I would buy stainless, but the coating on the tool itself isn't bad. You can DM me if you would like pictures, and I might make a follow up video about it soon.

The Wave (Plus) is nowhere near a good multitool. Here's why. The Wave has practically unusable medium size flat screwdriver and fake Phillips screwdriver, since the bitholder is too wide and too short. The Rebar, on the other hand, has the real 3D Phillips screwdriver and good flathead screwdrivers. The Wave is remarkably poor in the tool equipment, the scissors only take space - generally, scissors rather belong in a manicure than in a multitool because they can easily be substituted by the knife or pincers in most cases. The ruler is almost illegible on the Wave, whereas on the Rebar it's perfect. The plier jaws are wider and better to use in the Rebar, while the needle nose crap in the Wave is unstable and too narrow. In general, the Rebar is much steadier and more efficient. I also highly appreciate the Rebar's awl, which is completely missing in the Wave. The Wave is more fashionable than usable - it's nothing but an overpriced toy. Of course, those who have bought the Wave just to masturbate over it's design without really using it for work will never learn this truth.
