Leatherman Crunch Unboxing & Table Top Review - Viewer Requested Review

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Unboxing and Reviewing the Leatherman Crunch Multi Tool, one of Leathermans most unique products. Is it a good buy or a pass? We’ll take a look at what it does well and what leaves more to be desired compared to other options such as the Leatherman Wave + which will be a more flexible option overall.
Final take away is while the Leatherman Crunch is very well executed for what it is, I feel the Price is rather steep for a set of vice grips, while the tool does a great job I feel at this price point you just give up too much in terms of other capabilities that competing options offer. Your best bet is to buy a wave or Skeletool then thru a set of small vice grips for $10-$15 in your back too. You’ll have a more capable multi tool and vice grips when you need it. This is my second best tool. I've used it for a few years and it never fails. It has some artifacts from welding and it has grown some character. Just love it. It's really worth the money!

I like having tools that do not require batteries. Sometimes that is what I am left with. With that said, I bought a Milwaukie hand saw hand.le about a year ago. So, now I can use any blade that would normally fit in a recipocating saw. This gives me a lot of different options for camping, off-grid, or if there is a power outage . . . I am still able to do a job. I had a groove into the end which gives the handle allowance for longer blades

Great review. I bought my Crunch about 2002-2003 online at around 60 bucks. It’s a great tool and the ¼” hex drive feature is inspired. It was never in my EDC but when I went into DIY mode at home or away it was right there on my belt, across from my Wave. Between those two I could do anything.

Thank you! yeah I agree it's a little clunky for EDC for what you get, but around the shop and you need an extra set of hands it's nice to clamp it down.

Nice 👍🏽! The Victorinox Swiss Army SwissTool Spirit Plus with Nylon Pouch was also recommended by a review as 1 of 5 other ones for the top motorcycle multi tools! I see the limitations of this one although very handy vice grip! This leatherman one was the other. If you could have a look at the Swiss one if haven’t done so far be great. Thank you

I agree. But I didn’t buy it because I needed it. I like the size and vice grip is powerful. It’s a fun fidget toy too.

@ 10:33, on the Leatherman Crunch at the base of the small screwdriver is a hook whose function is a bottle cap lifter. Also @ 11:18, on the hinge of the Leatherman Crunch is a wire stripper as shown by the engraved image of the arrow and insulated wire.

I was rather unimpressed with my Crunch. Tools felt very flimsy and the small flathead snapped during its first use. I really hope they come out with an updated version (replaceable wire cutters, outside accessable tools, a saw instead of the serrated knife) of this though because the idea of it is super cool. As of right now though if Leatherman honors the warranty on it, it'll be going to the collection pile instead of back on the belt.

Agree and thanks for the review. Leathermans functionality is impressive, but nowadays overpriced. I hope for the future that they can keep up with a good quality for an affordable price, otherwise I see there downhill like for example Gerber.

I agree it used to be for $50-60 bucks you could pick one up, now it's $90-$100 part of it is inflation, but another part is they know they can.

I checked this knife out, I like the company Buck, and this looks like a great product for its intended audience, right now I don’t have much need for a hunting knife of that size so I’m not going to pick one up at this time. Good idea though and I’ve had good luck with Buck I’m the past!

I have this Crunch, but can never understand Tim Leatherman's addiction for screwdrivers, because this multitool has too many. Instead, he could have added a useful awl and diamond-coated one side of that file. ... I love the little groove in one of the pliers, but have to be careful when opening them because their spring action could trap one's fingers (I agree with the danger of trapping your fingers when closing!) otherwise, the Crunch sits comfortably in one's hand. I shopped around and bought mine for just £80 inc the leather sheath. Bargain!

I think this is an awesome idea, but I think I came to the same conclusion you did--you are just compromising too much in regards to the rest of the tools for the sake of the locking pliers. And that stinks, because I LOVE the idea of locking pliers in a multi-tool.
