Gentleman Within Forgive me, but it does not depend. YKK hardware is great. You should never settle for less than that. However, if YKK is the Toyota of the hardware world with its popularity and durability, RiRi is the Cadillac of that same world. It’s obviously more expensive, but if you can afford it, you’ll never go back. And you can also rest assured that a bag is one of the best when you see the RiRi hardware on it. Look at any Frank Clegg bag, for example.

Keep your passport on your person people. They are a bitch to replace when lost or stolen on a trip. And all the potential problems of some stranger running around with your passport and name. Good tips on leather bags.

Ideally, yes...but the pockets are there to quickly stash it away temporarily. I agree though and would say to keep it on yourself at all times, preferably in a secured zip pocket.
You are misinformed on the leather, Full grain is the top grain meaning it hasn't been sanded or buffed, it still has the natural texture and grain, top grain has been sanded and buffed, full grain is much thicker than top grain and has natural strength and durability from the full grain, full grain is not the top grain removed from a top grain or anything, it is quite literally the full hide with all grains, where as top has been sanded or in some cases split from the full grain
