Hey so a quick easy hack to protect your tooling patterns for reuse, try neatly covering the pattern with packing tape on both sides. That war you won’t need to reprint them or cover the work piece wig plastic wrap. Just wet the leather and plop down he pattern. Then just dry the pattern and store it.

you might already know this tip but I've learned you can use a metal quill nib in place of a brush for super detailed dying. it takes a little longer but is much more controlled

Epic dice bag! I will be making one of these for a friend of mine who loves D&D and loves dice! While my preference would be the tree, for her, I will put an image of a polyhedral dice sword. Thanks for your continued amazing videos!

The gusset is the veg tan strip not the chrome tan sides. Just an FYI

Great video as always. Loved the tree. With the knotwork it looks like Yggdrasill. Lol and it's not one of my comments without a nitpick, I'm fairly sure the chrome tan were the sides, and the vegtan was the gusset. ;)

if you haven't got the tools for the design part, what would be the easiest way to add a design onto finished leather? Have a journal that I want to add a design to for my DnD character, but don't know how to. Don't want to have the raised portions similar to the tree, just want the design to be sort of embossed.

I wish I could! It was actually given to me as a gift From CWbuilds when I did the lightsaber collaboration with him. I can ask him and see where he got it, though. If I had to venture a guess, I would say it's 4oz chrome-tanned, top-grain.

Mr Cl3ver, You might have tumbled or milled veg tan leather? I have some milled veg tan from tandy. I think its 1.5-3.5oz and looks very similar. I suspect it could be the same cause I don't think chrome tan is supposed to take dye like that. Regardless super cool project, im behind on my skill tree project to-do list but I'll hopefully catch up!

You think so? It was given as a gift and I just assumed it was chrome tanned. I have never seen tumpled veg tanned. I will look into it and post a correction if needed! Thanks for the heads up and for watching! 😁👍
