For many years I have wanted a braided mandolin strap just like this. No one seems to sell them. This braid is fantastic. Thank you for sharing, I am going to make a couple. Great easy to follow tutorial.
This is exactly what I've been looking for! It is so hard to find a clear tutorial for learning braided leather. Thank you for such wonderful, easy to follow instructions!

You make it look so easy. Love how you numbered the strands at the beginning of the tutorial! Makes it easy to pause the video as we work. As always awesome video. Thank you!

I made this video for 4 times. But I think it needs more clear instruction. Thank you for saying that! :)
I wonder how strong the "butted" end join would be with only glue after a lot of work or a decent "yank" on it. I'd be inclined to use very thin wire to wrap around the butted ends and THEN wrap the "decorative" leather around that. The wire would bite into the leather giving it strength and then the leather covers over for a nice look.
Genius! Showing demo in 2 colors really helps getting the sequence of what goes where when! Thanks!

Hey!! TY bro, Big time! 😁
Thank you Hahn. This tutorial is really helpful. I wanted to learn this braid. What mm leather did you use in the video?
@HahnsAtelier
5 жыл бұрын
Hi Andrea, I'm so glad you like this. I used 3mm width leather cord (wrapped) www.etsy.com/listing/245364733/flat-cord-3mm012inch-genuine-leather?ref=hp_rv This link that I was find in Etsy. looks similar of mine.
Hahns, could you give some guidance on the length of leather strands you would need to purchase to make a metre of final braided? Basically what is the ratio? Is it roughly 1 Metre (x4) to make 300 mm braided?
00:54 1 right over 2 00:59 4 left behind 3 and over 2 01:04 4 left behind 3 and 2 and right over 2 01:15 1 right behind 2 and 3 and left over 3 01:26 4 left behind 3 and 2 and left over 2 01:32 1 right behind 2 and 3 and left over 2 Another round at 01:05

Thank you Mr.Katayama I think in Japan you can get better material! It's 3mm width in the video. I bought at market in Korea. I found Etsy link. It looks similar but I don't guarantee 😆 www.etsy.com/listing/245364733/flat-cord-3mm012inch-genuine-leather?ref=hp_rv

What's the tool you used at 3:50. I just use my bed frame, but the tool would help so much more. Thank you.
Great tutorial, just a note for new viewers: the strand numbers refer to a different strand for each step. So strand 4 for step #2 is not the same as strand 4 for step #3 and so on. Confused me greatly at first lol

Hello guys! No pattern for this video :) would be great helpful if you could make a caption and description box's comment in your language if there isn’t one. kzread.info_video?ref=share&v=mHajwX18Y9w Love you guys! 💙
Would that super glue hold? I am worried that any heavy item on the braid would snap the glue as I know super glue is very brittle and snaps easily.
@HahnsAtelier

Hi Gorgophone Perseidae , I tested it can hold quite many weight. This method used by many makers like Bottega :) Usually for wrist strap hang wallet , small clutch bag or key etc. Unless you hang backpack or heavy things It'll be just fine ;)
