I would NEVER travel with people again. I spent my last two hols worry about others. Curating THIER time and trying to please their moaning. I knew I should have gone alone but pandered to the nonsense of needing others. Worst decision ever. Revel in your alone time feel the joy of being able to travel and care for yourself. Agreed! I spent my time in Iceland being the chauffeur to a friend who wasn't "comfortable driving in a strange country" while following her directions, pumping gas (again) doing what she wanted to do (she brought along a 6-page itinerary which I didn't ask for, and got up at 6:30am every day because "that's when I get up: Mind you, there was 18 hours of sunlight. We left every attraction when she said, and finally, the last straw. We were staying at an Airbnb and the owner was showing me his personal Iceland family scrapbook. She actually pulled on my shirt and said it was time to go. When we were in the car I told her that was kind of rude to our host and she screamed at me! Are we friends still? No. I will never take a long trip with a friend again.

Hi Neenah! Sorry you had such a terrible time. I also went to Iceland in March 2023, I went alone and had the best time. I rented a car and drove myself around (didn't go too far out though). I did a walking food tour and spent an entire day in the lagoon. People in Iceland were so friendly.

Hi Phia, Thank you so much. I totally hear you. I had a big argument when I went on a group girls trip to Greece years ago. I've since learnt that I did not communicate my expectations nor was I assertive about my preferences. Also, I should've stepped away and did my own thing every now and then. I'm not implying that this is what happened to you, just wanted to share what I have learnt about how to travel with others and get our needs met simultaneously so we can have a good time. 😀

I also live alone in my room. So happy to see people living alone and being grateful!

I would rather be alone than around other ppl wishing that I WERE! It’s very rare that I feel lonely nowadays, and surprisingly, when I have felt lonely, it’s been when I’m around ppl that I don’t connect with (That use to happened a lot at work). I try to cherish my time alone. It’s actually quite peaceful

You should’ve told me LOL I would’ve gotten there in no time and I am great traveling company! Now seriously, I love Bali and big groups are annoying. I have many many friends, and I have a good group of very closed ones, BUT, I only travel with 3 and mostly separately . Traveling is tricky with others and can destroy friendships. Enjoy yourself and your amazing blessings. There are many people right now not knowing how they will make it to the end of the month. You could’ve been there with a man sucking your space and energy. Don’t question things. Let things flow. Be grateful all the time. Pray for people that can make you happy while YOU MAKE THEM HAPPY AS WELL and sooner than later, you will have new people in your life

I am also in a similar situation I now find myself alone a lot after having divorced 12 years ago, no one has entered my life that seem right to go forward with. Happy birthday, girl! 🎉🎉🎉🎉 You and I are literally in the same boat. I celebrated my 29th birthday alone in Puerto Rico this February. It was my first trip taking a plane. Having no friends always deterred me from traveling, but I told myself that I can’t allow that to keep stopping me from exploring the world. I’ll only get older and time passes by so fast! I’m in the mindset that I have to do the things that I really wanna do while I’m here. I figured for my first trip, I’d do Puerto Rico because it’s still US territory and not much long of a flight, so it felt like a great way to get my feet wet with traveling. And now, I’m going away again to Panama in June. I’ve had a passport since 2022 and finally getting to use it! 🤗 I’m going on this trip with a black owned travel company that brings people together to do group trips. Maybe you can try doing these group trips sometimes to meet new people/potential friends. And I think you stated you live in NYC. So do I. I’m open to meeting you, if you’re open to it as well. 🤎🤎🤎🤎 We already have four things in common. Black, women, no friends who love to travel. Let me know. 🤎

Happy Birthday! You mentioned that there was a "problem". I don't see one. What I see is peace, tranquility, God's beautiful green Earth and one of His beautiful creations enjoying it all! You are living, not just existing. And, congrats on traveling alone. Many women in relationships do this annually both married and exclusively dating. It's not adequately publicized because society chooses to promote the lie that singleness equals loneliness which translates into a host of other negative misconceptions. Can you be single and lonely? Of course. But, one doesn't have to. The lens that you're looking out of determines this. Keep pushing forward and doing great things. 💜

I recall in a previous video that you stated you are an RN which I say KUDOS to you. I've never met a nurse who didn't advocate tooth and nail for their patients! I'm a medical professional as well...Speech Language Pathologist. Out of all the medical settings in which I've worked, I've gained more meaningful relationships from the acute care setting. I can only assume it's because of the high pressure/high stakes environment which causes people to trust and depend more on one other for the survival/progress of their patients compared to other settings. Just a random question. Thanks in advance either way.

You are just going to stop being so dang cute and smart and accomplished, lol. BTW I'm 72 and planning my first major trip to Asia this coming February alone. I love your ideas and hope I can afford some of the places you've stayed. I'm making a list.

There's no celebrating Birthdays in The Bible. I don't care anymore, when I hit 53 I ask my family to not get birthday cake for me anymore or flowers on that day for me. I did wait till the next day to make a cheese cake.
