Dude I am right there with you. I’ve been doing traditional for almost 20 years and I knew I’d have to make the jump to digital… and it is like learning everything all over again. A lot of tutorials skip the basics and assume the viewer has some grasp of digital. So I was just trying to figure it out myself and turns out I was doing a lot wrong. Who knew?! Lol. Anyway, best of luck in your digital art journey!

I can't draw straight lines or handwrite for the life of me so using the layers and tracing the shapes on pictures seems to be the loophole we need😋Drawing on paper takes a natural artistic ability which is how some people can handwrite well too. Ask anyone you know who can handwrite well to draw something and i guarantee they could do that well. It's like when you're handwriting you're drawing all the letters, lines, and swirls and doing it straight, but if you don't have that artistic ability then your not gonna be able to do it. No matter how much anyone has claimed everyone should be able to do it lol noop... some of us just aren't good at it. You could print off images and then using tracing paper to trace them, then transfer it onto some paper by flipping the tracing paper over onto some white paper then retracing the lines so the pencil lead transfers onto the paper. But now there's digital drawing tablets that makes that far cheaper, easier, and faster because you can use layers for tracing and lots of other things. Who says we have to be able to draw perfectly anymore? i've seen lots of people online who says they can't actually draw but make beautiful art pieces by tracing and then learning how to shadow and color it all in.

You're back!! and great timing too! I recently picked up digital art (and drawing in general) and was getting a little overwhelmed with all the different tools in the apps on top of practicing the foundations on how to draw. I've tried following other art videos and as great as they were, i find yours the easiest to understand and the most beginner friendly. I'm so glad to see you've got a course just for this! Will definitely give it a purchase and see how it goes! Thanks so much ^^

Hi Brad, I feel what you described: I'm a beginner, and drawing is a hobby for me. I wanted to learn more, so I got a drawing course that started with figure drawing. The course is great, but it is so ahead of my current abilities that it has been more frustrating than enjoyable. It resonates with me the idea of having small wins while learning the concepts and skills, I love that! I just got your course, and I'll complete it now and leave my other course for later. I think I'll have so much more fun. Thank you. :D

Use the line tool bro. Or if the drawing program doesn't have that tell me the program name and I will tell you how to make a perfect line

I picked up hipaint on my tab. Got humbled reeeal quick. This video is gold tho, explaining the basis for beginner beginners you know. Most ppl talk about the basics as if we all know what it is about.

This is just delightful! I'm so glad I found your channel! I'm working on creating the art for my KZread channel prior to launch, and I have ambitions to become an author and illustrator in the future. I haven't drawn since 2012, due to a lifelong battle with anxiety and depression which almost beat me. Additionally, perfectionism and low self-esteem (a deadly combination) kept me from really improving as an artist in the years prior to my breakdown. But that's all over with now! I'm getting back in the game! I'm REALLY out of practice, I need a better grasp of the basics to begin with, and the digital side of art is COMPLETELY alien to me. Yet, I KNOW that I will succeed in achieving my dream! I see that you haven't uploaded a video here in a long time, but even if this is all you ever post this is EXACTLY what I need! I just bought an extremely cheap drawing tablet and even tho I did not buy it for drawing specifically, digital art is something that has interested me for a long time, I just did not had the funds for even a cheap drawing tablet. I tried drawing on gimp (lol) but it wasn't fun and I felt lost, but this video and the one about hardware and software have really opened my eyes to the possibilities, so thank you for posting great content. Whenever my budget for non necessities increases, I'd like to purchase your course!

Tip for gross edges on fill tools. On some apps, every click you make with the fill tool after the initial one expands the color all the way around by a pixel. I know this works on Ibis paint and Photoshop, not sure about others though

Ive been thinking of learningbto draw. Im 36 years old can barely draw a stickfigure. My biological father was an artist, (a painter, among other things) and a comercial artist. He was brilliant. He did some artwork for some well known companies. He had a kind of photographic memory. When i saw some of his artwork my mothers friend showed me, i thought it was a photograph at first glance untill she told me what it was and i was completely astonished. Thats why i dont understand why i never had the interest or the natural skill. Maybe my inner artist is somwhere hiding inside of me waiting for the creativity to be expressed, who knows. Maybe ill never be good at anything

I am so envious of your tools and apps. I have this blank tablet and a photoshop program. It's chained to my desk. But your tool looks so liberating and simply. I love that you can just use your finger to move some things around or make an imperfect line, but just straighten it out. Every movement feels like an all or nothing approach for my end. If I mess up, I can undo and try again, but that isn't progress. Your stuff looks so untuitive and appealing to me, but I bet it's super expensive.

This is really good. I need advice. For my genres of art, I need to create artwork that is realistic. What software do you recommend for me? I can't afford a subscription, need a one and done. What I need the software to do is for me to draw yes but, also, sample colors from photos that are in the public domain so I don't have to work so hard at mixing RGB colors. What do you think of Rebelle real paint software? Thanks for any help you can provide.
