Learning My First *LEGIT* Handplant!
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
Learning how to handplant on a skateboard has been something I’ve been wanting to do for a while and never got around to trying it. I’ve done a hand plant over a spine before but to me doing it that way is much easier than coming back in on the transition. Psyched I was able to learn my first legit handplant!

Good job dude! I got rock to fake and rock and roll on a small mini ramp, still trying to get the courage to get over the coping on the big concrete ramp at one of the parks I go to. It's the cold season now but gonna try and improve on the ramp when i get back

Half cab bigspin boardslide, boardslide shove it out, and blunts popped all way back in.
Im from Brasil, and started tô skate few months ago, in mini ramps (im 29, by the way). Than i start to whatch your videos, and all the series. I dream about your local skatepatk. This ramp (im not gonna say mini, because its not, for me) looks amazing. Also thanks for speak to the Câmara about how u feel during the process of learning. Someday ill show up and skate there. Thanks for the videos
I've heard that it helps to learn them to disaster first then when you feel comfortable landing on the coping you try to go straight in
That Vans sticker is finally fading, you’re a real fan if you remember it looking fresh

Tom I was thinking the same lol
Yeah Chad! You're an inspiration. Nothing specific yet, but trying to learn 12 new tricks by years end, one for each month.
Ah good tip for these are try to pop the tail while grabbing the board especially if you are doing them in the middle of the transition (good for warming up for the trick). And pay attention to your backfoot placement, I place my foot almost in a pop shov position but way inside the tail so my back foot doesn't lose grip. Also grabbing the board way early and firmly really helped me not lose the board even tho it doesn't look as cool. Sucking your legs right before landing helps too oh and having board rails really helped me alot with this trick but I don't think it's necessary.
I was watching this whilst sorting the house. I was mesmerised watching all the nearly made. I actually clapped when you made it.
This is the best tutorial for anyone looking to do this trick, you will experience exactly this step by step.
Got to be one of the most 'real' battles ever seen. Incredible video Chad.
This was an emotional roller coaster. Haha. I just started skating transition. I don’t have anything other than one 6 foot quarter and a 4 foot quarter at two different parks an hour each away, but I dropped in for the first time last Sunday.
I recently found your channel and wanted to say thanks for making these kinds of videos where you learn new tricks and show your progression. I recently started skating about half a year ago and your channel has helped a lot. Many of trick tips/tutorials out there are done by people who've done the trick hundreds of times and have probably forgotten how scary/hard it was the first few times so seeing you do it makes it easier to understand the process. Hope you keep making these and can't wait to get through the rest of your videos!
Nice one! Thank you for showing your progression with this trick, I'm struggling with it myself so it helps a lot!
Think this just gave me the fire I needed to progress to the coping. Been stuck on the ramp for the exact same reason. Was so sick to watch you progress with this as quickly as you did. Hat off to you bro 👊
Your videos often have something to it that makes me as a viewer engaged in it. I seriously got hyped on some tries!
Epic!! My goal this year is to learn inverts and land a tre flip 😆🤘🙏

Way to persevere!. Just back into riding after decades off (yes, decades) super inspirational
Loved every second of that man 👊 brought some good energy to that vid. Makes wanna go skate! Can’t ask for me than that!
Just what I asked for. Thanks Chad, great handplant in very short time.
admire your persistence.... keep going man
Still trying to learn ollies. I wiped out yesterday and smack my head. All on film! Helmet squad from here on out though. 😂. Your progress and consistency is my motivation for sure. Love the edits chad.

Looks like you commented this a year ago? How's the progress??
Thanks for the tip. I was actually thinking coping first. Did not think to do in stages.
Happy New Trick day Chad. I feel like the first handplant is a milestone in skateboarding.
Sick! Keep on shredding and inspiring. Stay awesome dude! :)
Honestly I thought it'd be impossible for you to learn handplants in a day. That's incredible man
that is awesome my man.
Awesome session to watch. Nice work!
nice job! thanks for the tutorial.
I'm learning this trick and you post it thank you!
This one was really awesome
so sick dude you got em all in your huge bag of tricks!!!
Hell yeah you made it!!
i'm always so hyped on your ramp skating... and i always been a street skater.... you made me build a mini ramp in my backyard! I notice progess lately ;)
a really great trick!! took me so long but I finally was able to ride away. took me doing it lower on the ramp then slowly increasing height until I could put my hand on the coping. Best feeling in the world and a great stunner trick at parks and bowls! great video man
I'm learning these this next week👍👍👍
Yeah dude! That was rad!
That was awesome Chad!!!
Yeah Chad! Super rad!
That was so sick !
Well done amigo.
Thanks for the tips bro... good vibes
Man!!!! That was super sweet!!!!
Yes Chad, In struggling with these even half way up lol!
Good work!
Jeff Grosso R.I.P. would have been stoked that you put the effort into learning inverts. Keep up the great work! Vincit Veritas
Very nice Chad! Like to see a BS air now! 😜 Great job! Love you're videos, keep em comin!
Amazing! Got me to go out and skate today!
Awesome trick I am trying to the hand plant but I feels awkward lol but I don’t think of work my way up the ramp I will have to do that thank you for a good video
Trials and tribulations my man. So stoked to see you land it. Now imma go learn that shit 🤙
I learned backside airs coping level in the bowl today and Ive had layback 5-0s and fs grab airs so i think im read to finally start trying these tommorow :) this video was tight!
yes chad!!! handplants are so sick!
This exemplifies the greatest lesson in skateboarding that so many people overlook... perseverance.
i got to learn my first *LEGIT* faceplant because of you, thanks!
That was class!
Always get super hyped after watching some of your vids, my skatepark closed cuz of the CCP virus so I can't hit the ramps I was just getting the hang of, great stuff man!
YEAAA CHAD!!!!
Bro i been hesitating to go all the way to the coping and this just inspired me. 2020 is the hear for inverts. I mute grab it like a slob transplant.
Im glad that I found your channel. I have skated from 13 to 23 almost 10 years, but had to quit cuz of my angle, now skating only couple of times per year. How you keep yourself going? How do you warmup? Any stretching? I am now 27, and you are giving me so much motivation, that I can not wait when the summer is coming here at finland.
I started these last year, gonna try and better them later today.
That’s sick! I always scared about my head so near of the copping.. But, like always, you give good advice and i appreciate that! I repeat all the time « it’s on your mind » but i don’t like see my face so near of thé copping! Good vidéo! Kiss from France Chad!
I've scars on my lower back for learning these but it was worth it because its the greatest feeling in the world
hey thats a good idea to do them in the transition first rather than the coping. thanks!
Sick dude! I know that “thinking about the coping” feeling very well....
So sick! been wanting to learn these for ages...still wondering what the easiest grab is to start with for myself. Need to buy some pads xD

!!Tipp!! for everyone: I learned handplants, when i was 10 years old and stil doing them absolutley safe. Try to early grab like a melon, but between your legs. Not sure what the grab is called. It keeps the board on your feet proper. It's really not that hard, if you do it like this.
@maxt99shiun62
2 жыл бұрын
If you grab melon and do an invert that’s an Andrick some people find it easier I think grabbing mute is easier for me
That was awesome, you learn so fast. I've been trying frontside airs I've the hip of a bowl but I need to make that move to bonking off the coping to get the proper height but I can't bring myself to do it. 🤣

This is on my 2020 list too!
Frontside and backside airs on vert! I have to learn the basics of vert this year. I just have to. It looks like so much fun and as hard as it is at first, I'm having a blast learning! Keep Pushing!

@@ChadCaruso Love to see you hit up a vert ramp! get some pads on please!
That was sick, Chad! I want to try this so bad. So scary to think how close you come to rolling over your back hand though.
nice work. I want to learn these as well.
My dream trick❤️
I leaned that coming in at an angle was easier to learn then going straight at it like you were doing and bailing
DUDE YES! I love doing those! I always turn backside, grab mute, and ride it out, you’ll almost not even realize you’re upside down! Inverts are extremely respectable. People go nuts for it!
Also if you cross your arm as you're coming up it's like one smooth motion and you got it air out of the ramp before you plant your hand to the coping or you can leave your hand on the ramp and let it slide up as you air out and then make contact with the coping as you're pulling your bored as tight as you can to your chest
I’m learning hand plants when I can’t even Ollie like legit I can do feeble rock to fakie rock n roll 5o 50/50 boardslide and invert( undercoping)
that trick isbmy goal for this year!
I have been trying those also
hahaha I clapped when you got the first sketchy one! I want to progress to this trick one day.
You are killing this.. I can thank you enough. 35 practice with my kids
Sick
I watched this video and literally went out to learn this. First thing is that for such a unique trick that no one really tries and is seemingly hard, it’s actually quite easy to work your way up to getting the board over the coping. It’s really as simple as working your way up the ramp getting used to putting your hand down and turning. Which leads to the second point which is to really focus on putting your weight on your hand. Once you make sure you do that and aren’t just touching the ramp with your finger tips, the motion becomes far more natural and automatic. Because the more weight you put on your hand, the easier it is to scoop the board off the ramp. And in the end, it’s all about working your way up to putting your hand on the coping, which is really just a mental obstacle for committing what you already know
@leredditcommander8208
2 жыл бұрын
You dont need to put your weight on.your arm, just the inertia is enough. Arm is more an instrument to turn back in and give you time to position landing
Video automatically gets a like for being one of the only videos for a trick like this
This probably the trick I wana do the most for skating bowls
Gotta learn Invert Reverts, Duane style. They are so fun.
im learning the handplant! i can do a beanplant and a boneless but i gotta drop in on ramps next so i can include those in my tricks
Hell yeah
AWESOME. I can't skate anymore but this was a goal trick for me..
Please do a full tutorial on it
Cool dude you're awesome that was awesome I just subscribed I was just sitting here thinking how of all the years skateboarding hand plants was a trick I always thought I would learn and never did I'm 44 now but we'll see
gotta build those new trick muscles.
Could do some early grab mute airs first as a progression. Also, they are way easier on vert.
Growing up strictly street skating it always felt un natural to touch the board.
