learned an invaluable lesson after being robbed

Have you ever gone through a creative rut? Whether that was in photography, videography, writing, painting, etc. Whatever your creative field or passion, I'm sure we have all gone through some kind of rut where in the moment it felt like we were never going to get out of it.
In this video I share a story from a few years ago about when my condo was robbed; one of the things that was stolen was my portable hard drive with basically every photo I had taken (10,000+) since getting my first camera. I also talk about the aha moment that pulled me out of it, and a few other current experiences in my journey starting this KZread channel.

Hey Brad, awesome video dude! Keep going. I feel you on getting your stuff stolen. It absolutely sucks to go through. But the story you get left with almost makes it worth it...almost lol I've been in a ton of creative ruts. And it used to drive me insanse (still does). But you cant be creative all the time. Sometimes you need that time to recharge the creative juices so to speak. I stopped fighting it!

Thanks man! Yes, that's a good way to put it haha Always seems a lot worse in the moment than it actually is. And that's true, you definitely need that recharge time! Can help you look at something with a completely different perspective.

Hey B! Love this video and seeing you put your awesome skills to use. We’ve discussed many times my desire to do something creative but I feel like I’ve been in a creative rut for so long. I haven’t quite figured out how to get through it yet because there are so many things I want to do. What I have found that’s working (right now) is trying to narrow it down by creating Pinterest boards to create a “vision”. Once I have that I feel like it will be easier to create a roadmap. I look forward to watching your channel grow 😄

Hey! 🙂 I feel ya on that. I know you have the talent to be able to do it, you just have to start. Creative ruts fucking suck, there’s no question. I love hearing the creating a vision, next step is bringing it down until you have bite sized obtainable goals. That’s what really helped me the most. I got so caught up with the bigger picture and stayed stuck for the longest time, overwhelmed by all the work involved to get started. But once I created those little wins/objectives it really helped me see the steps to get to the bigger vision. The thing that clicked for me was the break down of this in the book “The ONE Thing” by Gary W. Keller and Jay Papasan. I’m going to do a video about this because that taught me a lot.
