Hi Jon. Another great Playthrough. Thanks a lot. I like this kind of game. It is already ordered thanks to You. :-) (much appreciated). All the best from Germany.

Thanks for this. I watched someone else's explanation w/ review and was left really not understanding what was going on. I understood from you enough to disagree with your move when you started a second pyramid instead of adding onto your current one. :)

I think this game has a fascinating interconnected set of systems, and agree that at first glance it's not apparent how it all works together. Perhaps I should have doubled that pyramid up, I think I was more focused on showing variety in the scoring conditions :P

I'm new to the board game world, so when I received this in a zatu mystery box I was thinking I'm never going to be able to play this . Your video made it look easy in fact my son and I are just setting it up now

Thanks for the play through. I am sold on this. I like the elements of action / resource selection with area control. It has some nice thinky cascading actions in the later rounds to maximize your scoring points.

Definitely picking this one up. A lot of interesting decisions, I love the engine building element of building up your production grid and getting those abilities/discounts. Also seems like a very doable teach. I love complex games, but they can at times be hard to teach, and this one seems contained enough that I could probably explain it without confusing the other players.

Fabio Lopiano games are all kinda similar. I liked Merv the best but even then I'm sorta lukewarm on it, I think I'm generally not enamored of the style of having a very limited number of increasingly compounding actions. Also I didn't like the art style on this one (offputtingly drab) unlike with Merv. I appreciate the full playthrough though, always happy to see those. Thanks for the video!

We are the exact opposite on this…I mean the colors here are drab and much less pretty than Merv but Merv is a fav of mine

In the first round it seemed like 5 total rounds for the game was going to be way too short, but those actions really fill out by the end. Cool system

Seemed to me like the board design should have used room for those cards on the right side of the board on some dedicated on-board position. Also, seemed like a relative continuation with selecting your final hand size back to 5 would be to add an extra score step for each player based on buildings in the final unpicked card - sort of a boost for picking the high number and playing last for that 5th round. As usual your explanation of the game was awesome, Jon!

I also wish there was a mechanical reason for drawing a card in the final turn, perhaps the final card does one last bonus scoring during final scoring etc. I'm no designer though, so I'm sure there were reasons to leave that out. Glad you enjoyed this :)

Seems like a cool game. Peculiar design choice for the priest token, though: from a distance it looks a bit like an asparagus spear.

good play thru Jon. Looks like a pretty light game, but seems to play quickly and looks like something to play when the urge to game is strong but the head is a bit tired. Wont be available in the USA until at least June (from what i can tell), so have this flagged in BGG, and hope to get to play it sometime next year.

The Dice Tower did a 4 Squares review and their ratings were spread out quite a bit. I will be curious to hear your thoughts as a Lopiano fan in a Q&A or Good Game Vlog down the road.

I'm not sure when I'll be getting this one played. I actually playtested a prototype of this about a year ago though, and remember quite enjoying it. From what I remember, the final version is nearly the same as that playtest. I think the designer was in subtle tweaking mod when we did the test.

At the 25:00 mark you decided to take a card from the selection row that had the gold statue on it. I think this was a mistake, because leaving the forest tile as an option, when purple was already established in the forest, and orange was going to be building in the forest, meant that it was likely that card would be left by the other two players. Since at the time no one had built in the gold region, leaving it behind and taking the forest, would have likely resulted in one of the other players taking the gold statue.

Huh, yeah that's a great point. This game was slightly harder than normal to simulate multiple players due to all these competing pressures. It's quite an interesting system in this game.
