What do you keep your aperture at during dance floor pics? With the 18mm, looks like you have it stopped down a bit to include more in focus. The Manfrotto light helps with this. Always wonderful work. Been following you for years.

My photographer has let me down last minute as I get married on Saturday, so I have no choice but to shoot my own wedding! I plan to use my Fujifilm XE4 with a 16mm F2, and I guess plan on getting a view of my and my partner’s interactions throughout the day. At first It was quite daunting but now I’m looking forward to the challenge and perspective. I’ve shot weddings before and no my way around a camera, but I wonder how you would approach this scenario? What recipe would you recommend?

I am so sorry your photographer pooped out on you with little notice. Multitasking is very difficult. How can you be the groom and the photographer at the same time? Your job at the wedding, as the groom, is to say “I do” and dance with the bride. This is a party with a ceremony toward the beginning of the day. How can you do bride/groom prep and take photos? How do you do the 1st dance and photograph it? I’ve never been married. I would guess during the day you are the co-star. How does the co-star participate in the event and take photos too? A daunting task to be sure. Taking photographs and feeling the emotions that are occurring seems impossible. A radical change of your mindset. I can’t imagine being the co-star of your day and documenting it too. Hope the the went well meaning you had a great time at your party and captured some important moments. I’ve seen in the film days guests being given disposable cameras to take images, especially at the tables, during the reception. Maybe ask your guests to take images lots of images, with their cellphone cameras. I understand because you are the co-star in this production there are things that go on without your knowledge. That is part of the photographer’s responsibility to capture during this event. Congratulations on your wedding. Mask On Nurse Marty (Ret)
