As a native English speaker with no experience in Vietnamese, those pronunciation charts really help! Lan does a really excellent job of teaching in this video. Thanks Lan!
I was so happy when I realized you didn't have to roll the "r"

@@eternitae0_035 you dont have to roll your 'r's in thai if im correct, they pronounce it like a mix between an r flap and an L, kinda like korean but different. Correct me if im wrong, i only know like a few words in thai.

actually she's just teaching Northern Viet accent. In Southern accent-HCM accent,it gets more complicated, and sure you have to roll the "r"
Just in case you read this I want you to know, this video is SOOOO helpful, it's a shame that some languages like Vietnamese don't get a spotlight, or have as noticeable good lessons, so it's really nice to find one :)

As a non-Vietnamese speaker, this is undoubtedly the clearest explanation of how to pronounce the Vietnamese alphabet I have seen and, more importantly, heard. Well done. I shall certainly be taking lessons at Tien Viet Oi. Ideally, it would be great to have Miss Lan as a teacher.
I’m Vietnamese but I don’t know how to write or read Vietnamese so I’m trying to find video that is helping me which is this video, it’s very useful to my knowledge tysm!

shame on your parents.....your native language is the most valuable free education one can receive.......back in the 60's my parents who spoke polish didn't teach their 4 sons because 1) they wanted us to be ALL_ AMERICAN (BS I say) and 2)they could conveniently break into the polish language when they didn't want us to understand what they were talking. The benefits of knowing a 2nd language fluently are immense in your personal future.....respectfully get after those parents who I;m sure love you immensely and along with these lessons will be able to pick up the language quickly

@@chautargos8132 Hi, I'm Italian mixed Viet and English is my first language as I went to an International School and spoke Italian to my father and Vietnamese to my mother. Vietnamese is extremely easy, people just get confused with the accents but passed that, it's a joke that Westeners might struggle with. The writing is easy and if you know the language, writing can be done with your eyes closed. Regardless, the commenter might live someone where he/she doesn't use Vietnamese (maybe only with his/her family) so writing just isn't practised as much.

I use to learn vietnamese with an app (words and simple phrases), I realize I should have learn the alphabet with you earlier. Thank you so much Lan and your team for this lesson
I was very intimidated to learn the language because I read that Vietnamese was one of the hardest language to learn to speak. But now that I've watched this, I know where to start. Thank you for the video.

Hello i am a indian working in vietnam last five years.i saw your video it is very understable. I impress your teaching. So thank you
I'm living in northern Vietnam now and I'm really struggling to learn the basics of the language. This video is a fantastic starting point. I'm so glad I found your channel. Lam, you're awesome - I wish I knew you!

Thanks for providing diagrams with mouth formation, it's reminiscent of phonics and makes it easier to properly pronounce. I started learning Russian and it's almost harder than Farsi
God. You have made something that terrifies English speakers seem so easy! I wish I had come across this channel a few years ago.
I haven't seen this kind of video that teaches Vietnamese's alphabet very well. I love this video and thank you for sharing this. I will subscribe it. :D
Hi Lan from 4 yrs ago!😁😜 Thank you and TVO for all the hard work and effort in teaching us for all these years. You guys deserve much more subscribers!!!
holy cow! usually it's rather easy for me to learn new languages but these vietnamese alphabets are giving me such a hard time. even though the instructions are clear and especially the visuals are very helpful, i'm still struggling to hear the differences between the different vowels. i swear to god it's the same o all the time!! frustrating, but it's the challenge that makes it so aspiring.
I am learning Vietnamese now and this makes so much sense the way you teach. Thank you!
The first time I learned anything in a foreign language, I was in 1st grade, and my Vietnamese classmate taught me how to pronounce "ng", and they literally helped me with making my face do the right movements, and the fact that you included this in here was A. cool and reminded me of my old classmate, B. awesome & easy to understand. This is very cool. This was a really neat video, thanks for making it.
This is one of the best sites for teaching Vietnamese. I find it interesting you refer to one form of vowel "with a hat". This is how we referred to the accent circonflex in the French language as beginning learners in the 80s. My classmates called it the "Chinese hat".
@Tiengvietoi

Yes, it is. We try to find an easier way to call and explain the diacritics, so it's easier for learners to memorise.
The most helpful lesson I’ve ever had in Vietnamese! Cam on!!
I'm really thankfull for your channel. I'm french, and i could work my English with learning Vietnamese. It's not the easyest way, i could do it only with your channel. Cam on!

Florian oi. Thank you for supporting our channel. We'll keep making videos :)
probably the best examples/teaching of how to pronounce the different vowels that I've seen/heard (so far...)
By far the most useful pronunciation video I've seen.
I think that we have talked about this, but the normal "d" has the "yuh" sound. You can hear it in the southern and central dialects.
Thank you! You are very clear! I tried to follow someone else's video without first trying to learn the Vietnamese alphabet and I realized that I was going to first learn the alphabet. :D
she does a really good job explaining. thanks.
So easy to understand, and first class explanations and demonstrations
Thanks for the video! My parents are Viet but never taught me how to speak it :I. All I know is rice, water, and want in Vietnamese.
Thank you for the video, this is so far one of the best teaching regarding the vowel, I have watched different channels, but only after watching your teaching, I finally can tell the difference between a, ă, â & e, ê, and how to pronounce it! 😊
Finally I might be able to read this all the videos I have found so far haven't been as good. My friend will be super pleased when I can read her Vietnamese. I'm surprised this channel doesn't have 10 times the subscribers.
This is the best tutorial, specially with the tongue position as sound are different...
I watched it more than 100 time thank you teacher I understand it now it so easy for me now next stuff is reading a Vietnamese book or story book then I learned how to read and speak thank you teacher this is the first video I watched im a English to Vietnamese translator now ....thank you again teacher.....

This is great! Do you have a chart (or a tutorial) that lists the vowels that only go after a specific alphabet? For example, alphabet "C" only combines with ă, â, o, ô, ơ, u and ư. This will be a great help for us beginners. Thanks!
I love that even your alphabet has the cool pointy hat.

as for consonants, although I'm more interested in Southern accent this is still a good example of pronunciation for the consonants (Northern accent) ...
This is so amazing. Thank you.
Very good video. Thank you so much.
The consonants are pronounced as same as "Devnagari" or "Marathi" (one of the Indian🇮🇳 Languages) letters. 😂♥️ This was really informative and a good video✌️
Thank you so much to make this video very helpful for me
It’s so helpful, thanks!😊
Great video! It helps a lot. Thank you for it!
I like your way of teaching
good i love you. it help me so much learning
First of all, I notice that,Vietnam doesn’t have its own indigenous alphabets. But adopted from the French or Latins. And there’s another Asian country adopted the French or Latin alphabets also . It’s Indonesia. I have been trying to learn Vietnamese, but found it confusing because the pronunciations are different from English. The writings are the same except the phonetics . However, I love the sounds of the language, when spoken by the natives.
