shame on your parents.....your native language is the most valuable free education one can receive.......back in the 60's my parents who spoke polish didn't teach their 4 sons because 1) they wanted us to be ALL_ AMERICAN (BS I say) and 2)they could conveniently break into the polish language when they didn't want us to understand what they were talking. The benefits of knowing a 2nd language fluently are immense in your personal future.....respectfully get after those parents who I;m sure love you immensely and along with these lessons will be able to pick up the language quickly

@@chautargos8132 Hi, I'm Italian mixed Viet and English is my first language as I went to an International School and spoke Italian to my father and Vietnamese to my mother. Vietnamese is extremely easy, people just get confused with the accents but passed that, it's a joke that Westeners might struggle with. The writing is easy and if you know the language, writing can be done with your eyes closed. Regardless, the commenter might live someone where he/she doesn't use Vietnamese (maybe only with his/her family) so writing just isn't practised as much.

This is very cool. This was a really neat video, thanks for making it.

This is one of the best sites for teaching Vietnamese. I find it interesting you refer to one form of vowel "with a hat". This is how we referred to the accent circonflex in the French language as beginning learners in the 80s. My classmates called it the "Chinese hat".

First of all, I notice that,Vietnam doesn’t have its own indigenous alphabets. But adopted from the French or Latins. And there’s another Asian country adopted the French or Latin alphabets also . It’s Indonesia. I have been trying to learn Vietnamese, but found it confusing because the pronunciations are different from English. The writings are the same except the phonetics . However, I love the sounds of the language, when spoken by the natives.

Hey Lan. Firstly, your videos are a really great learning resource that I have found very helpful (even though I live in Southern Vietnam :) ) I wanted to ask if you mind me embedding them via KZread on my personal blog?
