Hands down the best tutorial on how to pronounce it properly. Every other video just says it as one long word, which is absolutely useless.

Ahhh this'll be my new task for the weekend. I've done the same with Informer - Snow before, when I had to quickly master it. "Informer, younosaydaddy, mesnowme, Igoblame, yalickybombomdown 'Detectiveman asess adidame snowmestab somewhere down the lane.." Makes it easier to pronounce them like that.

Except it is very very approximate. The ll is not possible to show phonetically with precision, due to being a very tricky fricative, but it is in between Cl and Thl.

Sorry, but this isn't even close to pronouncing it properly. The two lls are a sound that doesn't exist in English. To make it, put your tongue close to the roof of your mouth, but don't actually touch it, and breathe from the back of your mouth. It's nowhere near a "th" sound. It's not far off a "sh" sound, but not exactly the same. It's called a voiceless alveolar lateral fricative. At the start of the name with the first ll there, the breathing sound may make it sound close to a "ch" sounds like in "bach", but it's not the same sound there either. So making it easier by making a "cl" sounds isn't right either.

Nicholas Butler Thank you, I am Swedish speaking and in my local OLD dialect I believe we have the same L-sound. It is hard to describe since there is no corresponding letter to it. I would still try to describe it as the sound you get when you try to pronounce S and L at the same time, or when you change between the letters. You have your tongue at the roof of the mouth, and the wheezing letter resonates kind of at the left and right sides of the mouth. Do you agree, are we speaking of the same letter? Old Swedish and Welsh have a lot of words and grammar in common.

If you mean Old Swedish as in the average east Norse dialects spoken 1000/800 years ago? Then they do not seem to have had it.The Jamtlandic Swedish dialect or foms of it can have it as can traditional Jamtish can have it, though some argue they should be seen as a seperate language from Standard Swedish rather than dialect of it. The Norwegian of Trondheim can also have it. It exists in some vcariation but linguist call them Voiceless dental and alveolar lateral fricatives. What we call s- like sounds are also avelor fricatives but they are not lateral, that is the air does not go between the tounge. A common laterial would be L. The pronunciation of ll is in between Cl and Thl, and cannot be shown phonetically with precision. More useful is the video on KZread by Don Woods in which a song is used to help with the pronunciation.

No, he doesn't get the ll correctly pronounced. The way Liam Dutton pronounces it is correct, as is the pronunciation in the Don Woods video, also on KZread.

To those who mock the way others have put there time and effort to try and teach others how to say this remote Welsh stations name , that is used very infrequently in an every day sentence , In Any language , the people of Wales should be great full that others have taken an interest to spend time learning a little Welsh seeing that many Welsh folk can't speak Welsh themselves! Be great full others are taking an interest , as I say many Welsh people have abandoned what is becoming a rare tongue

Hi Tirta , I find when learning anything It is the best to go and learn from (not the easiest way but the most accurate way ) of tuition otherwise you can make things difficult for oneself . I came across this site by accident , I speak four languages but this was just a word to play with like a tongue twister 👍I hope you will make a video on this and show them what you can do.
