    People don't really use cursive in everyday life. Students use it while in school, but after that it is nearly useless. So there is no reason for a language learner to care about cursive.

    Don't worry. Sure it is true that noone writes in print style by hand but most of the text around here is going to be printed anyway. It is very rare today to ancounter a handwritten text with smartpgones and computers available everywhere. So although it is important to know but for a beginner it should definitely not be a top priority. And cursive script is not something standardized of course. Almost everyone above age 12 has at least a bit of a personal touch to it to make it look nicer or to make it easier to write.

    I remember studying Russian at university. Everything was going well and then ...BAM... just when I familiarized my self with all of the letters we switched to writing in cursive Cyrillic . Talk about an emotional rollercoaster! 😂

    yeah, I am brazilian too, and actually, when she says the "english alphabet" this is wrong, the alphabet is latin, that's why italians, hispanics, portugueses, and brazilians pronounce similar and can talk any of these languages without a terrible accent.

    I found a lot of the "new friends" letters can be remembered because they're very similar to their Greek counterpart in both look and sound. For example, д is like delta, not exactly in this case but it's derived from it and the triangular shape is pretty similar. П is pretty well Pi, so that's a no brainer. Ф is phi, or f. And out of the "false friends" is also Е which is related to epsilon, though the fact that it looks just liken an E helps a great deal, too.

    Thank you so much! I'm german but my parents came actually from Ukraine and taught me the Russian language since I was a child. But the thing is that they didn't tell me how to write it but only how to speak, so now (since I got interested into learning new languages or improving my current ones) I want to be able to read and write as well.

    Even though К is a true friend, it looks slightly different from the English K depending on the font. Like on this one. К K The Russian К is curved and the English K is straight.
