Learn To Play: Left hand arpeggios in 3/4
Музыка
We take a look at playing left hand arpeggios but in a 3/4 time signature, following popular demand from multiple subscribers. This video piano lesson is the three quarters equivalent of the following popular tutorial pair, which I did a long time ago but for a 4/4 signature:

So, what's the secret to really getting those interesting left hand piano arpeggios going? The answer is: to break them down into manageable chunks! By working on your left hand piano technique, you can really turn a dull chord into a much more lively arpeggio. This is achieved by developing a solid understanding of what notes can and should be "moved around", and what sort of connecting-notes can be inserted between them.
Another great idea for building rich sounding piano arpeggios is using templates: several patterns, complete with fingering, are suggested throughout the video. Next time you run into a chord you'll know exactly how to rearrange its notes to yield a pleasant sounding result.
If you want to learn more about arpeggios, starting in Wikipedia is always a safe bet:
"An arpeggio is a musical technique where notes in a chord are played or sung in sequence, one after the other, rather than ringing out simultaneously. This word comes from the Italian word "arpeggiare", which means "to play on a harp." An alternative translation of this term is "broken chord."

I am a beginner, but hearing your music and seeing you play it (especially this piece) is inspiring and an encouragement for me. A beautiful in-sight into what one can look forward to play. It would be great to get the sheet music for this piece. It reminds me very much of Pachabel. A heart stirring accomplishment. Thank you.

Hey man thanks alot for your lessons! I have a question: For left hand arpeggios of for example C Major I have seen people use the fingering 5-4-2-1 and other people 5-3-2-1 (CEGC). Personally I like to accompany with root, third, fifth, root, third, fifth, root. What fingering do you recommend? Thanks alot! Nikolas

Nice tutorial. Where can I get the sheet music for this?
I am a regular viewer of your piano classes. Please clarify-while playing modern left hand 1-5-8 pattern, how I follow the rules of parallel fifth and parallel octave in similar/contrary motion as well as unison to octave and octave to unison for consecutive chords which are forbidden in Western classical music.

Hi Pon. Just don't use big stretches, that's all. I suggest watching Michel Petrucciani for inspiration and ideas. He had tiny hands (due to physical disabilities) but still managed to be an outstanding jazz pianist and a personal favorite of mine.
