    I’m working on nailing this first instead of my usual learning a riff or lick then moving on, noodling and time wasting. Other than that, I’ve re-re discovered at 55 the magic, timelessness, simplicity and beauty of Kurt and Nirvana, and their work along with their covers. So I’m concentrating on that body of work mate

    @@geordiejohn3703 an excellent approach, oh me is really satisfying to play once you get it down. I remember my brother's friend playing it when I started playing and I thought he was a wizard - he lent me the hal leonard tab book and it's been in my repertoire ever since.

    You either do a full barre or just a partial chord of the C, D, E chords from the D string up to the high e, slide between the chords and the picking pattern is roughly D string, high e, B, G, high e, B, G, high e on the first two chords. You can get pretty loose with it but it sounds lovely

    Can you explain what other frets you’re hammering when you do both C shapes

  • @AndyPlayedGuitar

    @AndyPlayedGuitar

    @@Fcp007 I don't think I'm hammering anything, though there might be a cheeky pull off on the first fret on the B string on the C chord after I've slid down two frets to the C? The rest is just strumming and the sound of sliding between the chords.

    whats the strum pattern???

  • @AndyPlayedGuitar

    @AndyPlayedGuitar

    I never liked to get too bogged down in thinking whether I'm playing an up or down as any additional instruction beyond chords and riffs can get in the way of listening. With that said, listen closely to the record and try and get nice and relaxed when you play it as slow as is comfortable for you, the rhythm will come. Roughly it's play the root note, the bass-iest note on a down and the first strum would be a down and the higher notes of the chord would be followed by a up-down-up-down kinda feel before the next chord. Try and work on the feeling of it and your picking hand will start to find the appropriate rhythm. Good luck! 🙂🎸

    @@AndyPlayedGuitar with slides and what not are you supposed to do it really qucikly and apply a steady pressure the whole way?

  • @AndyPlayedGuitar

    @AndyPlayedGuitar

    4 ай бұрын

    @@nova1315 yeah so you want to hear the notes sliding up. Not so much in the opening riff as ideally you'd have a bit of palm muting on the go but certainly when sliding between those "C shape" chords your down will be on the first chord and the strumming will follow the slide down to the next. Or slide up as in the latter part of the song. It's quite satisfying once you've got it down, it's not particularly rushed, it's a pretty chill song but if you can hold the c shape and move it between a normal open c and then the whole hand moved up two frets you'll be laughing

    @@AndyPlayedGuitarI think he’s implying that you are teaching the wrong chords. Which is true. In fact they are bar chords played and not open ones. Just watch Curtis play it. Too easy to not get it right. Whatever you played at the end is completely wrong as well. If you are going to teach it, please take the time to tune correctly. Have a nice day.

    @@mikemaas9944 my goal is to get people playing the guitar and have fun. Barre chords are hard for beginners and there is more than one guitar part being played. I got the chords I'm showing from the Hal Leonard tab book and they're usually pretty accurate. Thanks for explaining that guys comment as it was too vague!

    @@briangunn21 well look my point is that who wrote the song? Who created the song? And yet who gets all the credit in this posting? It’s a creation by the meat puppets and it’s being popularized by Nirvana with some of the meat puppets as back up musicians.
