Learn to Play Age of Sigmar 3.0: What are battalions, and how to use them
Welcome back to the Wargrove of Woe! Learning Age of Sigmar can be a daunting task, with its many layers of rules that can be a little difficult to understand. One of these rules are battalions. In this video I will be covering the core battalions and what makes them useful or useless!

As a new player I love "battle regiment" but would prefer to know my army before I drop the lot in front of any seasoned player so tend to go for higher drops to help with deployment. Keep up the good work. 👍
Super helpful. Thank you!
This video was super helpful, keep up the good work
Thank you for this video! I suck at reading and trying to work out how to play has been a nightmare 😅
I love your videos. really helpfull. i would love to see a Blades of Khorne Start Collecting Video
I almost exclusively use either Warlord for an extra artifact or Battle Regiment because first turn is key for many armies. I rarely if ever use any of the other default battalions.
A good way to differentiate the between commanders and sub-commanders is squares and rectangles. All squares are rectangles, but not all rectangles are squares.

So a sub-commander can be a commander but a commander cannot be a sub-commander?
I still havent found any info or gameplAy revolving around the 3 player+ convergence of fate battleplan that used vanguard and reinforcement contingents

I have never heard of this! It sounds interesting so I will definitely research it a bit!
so, how battalions work in terms of points? do i need to cost the units points and the battalion point as well? for example my battalion warscroll cost 100 and i meet the requirement for that wars scroll battalion, that group of models that im using is 560 do i add the aditional 100 to that unit cost if i want to use that warscroll?

So core rule battalions don’t cost any points at all. They just provide benefits if you organize your army into them. Warscroll battalions do have a cost, you have to pay the points cost for the models inside the battalion and the warscroll battalions itself. Do note that warscroll battalions are only legal in narrative or open play not matched play.

@@WargroveofWoe awesome! Thank you so much 🙏
So!
So to be clear, you can take any number of these? Example on my Skaven list I have 6 heros so in theory I can take Warlord twice and have a total of 3 artifacts of power? With no consequences?

Yes you can take as many battalions as you want as long as you can fill out all the mandatory unit slots. Be aware a unit can’t be apart of more than 1 battalion.

@@WargroveofWoe thanks for the reply. Follow up question, when picking an extra enhancement I cannot pick to have my general to have a second command trait correct? The rules state you can NEVER have more than one but idk if this breaks that or not. I assume not.

That’s correct you can not give your general 2 command traits
Do all units in your army HAVE to fit into one or more battalions?

No, battalions are completely optional. They are free to use but aren’t mandatory
feels like GW is trying to force people to only use units A,B,C
