I learned more in one of your videos than I have in years of putzing around on my mininova. Thank you!
@XtraLite the LFO can be set to unipolar or bipolar. In unipolar mode (+ or -) the LFO signal modulates only in the + or - range of the initial value (for example: pitch is modulated from the initial value only in + or - 1 semitone). In bipolar mode, the LFO signal goes back and forth crossing 0 (for example, the initial pitch value).

Thanks! I thought that's what it was but wasn't sure. Insightful, thank you.
Great tutorial for a great synth! It is already over 10 years old, but I still use it today to make my tracks. Keep up these in-depth tutorials! Very handy!

10 years old? Jeez, I had no idea!
One of the best polyphonic synths in terms of functionality. You can do some complex things that sound killer
Thanks again , your last few videos have made me pull out my mininova and get it sounding great , would like a mod matrix deep dive 👍
Thanks for the great tutorial! There's more I'd like to know but I think you've shown me how to figure it out! I think I bought the right synth!
This guy is incredible, another awesome video!
An AMAZING mean machine. I’ve gladly owned one of these for 8 years. I’ve also got on board the stunning Gary Numan Numanove sound pack.

It will be my next purchase! Thank you!❤
A fantastic little synth with beefy sounds. I’ve owned mine for almost 10 years and again, it’s fantastic.
That arpeggiator is really powerful!
Thank you, looking forward to more of this kind of thing!
Your informative video finally convinced me to add this gem to my synth family !!! I need not buy any other synth ever again !!! You made a positive difference in my life bro !!!!

Denver Colorado I got mine a month ago I play upright 🔊🎼 bass
One wouldn't believe that this dwarf has one of the most versatile arpeggiators on the market of synthesizers (today) in general. You create your patterns in seconds. Sadly, it has only 8 steps. But even this short length shows in an instant how easy it is to change from a boring to a grooving arpeggio.
😲 OHH, and also, You have a great channel! I learned a lot with the arpeggiator info. you went over, and boy it looks like you can do a lot with this lil' keyboard!!! I was asking if it has any automatic accompaniment that will play along with you while you play a song. You know, bass, drums, etc. Thank You for making it, and taking the time to go over some of the things you can do with it... Once again, Thank You, Jeremy from Virginia Beach VA ⛱️ 👍👌🎸 🎹 🎵🎶🎵🎶✌️

Thanks! No, the MiniNova is what is called mono-timbral, meaning that it only plays one preset at a time. So there are no accompaniment tracks, like drums or bass. Roland has a couple like that though. The jdxi and the Jupiter XM for example. Congrats on getting your MiniNova for $90! I got mine for $400.
When my mini shows up gonna be intimidating big time
The swing does what it does :-)
Good stuff! Thanks for showing us that! I’ve been wondering if there is a step sequencer on the mini nova that lets you loop the notes in a particular order played....if I’ve explained that right. Kinda new to this.

The MiniNova only has an arpeggiator.

That’s probably where you’ll need to get yet another interface, like a zoom multitrack recorder... or maybe plug it into your computer and loop it through a free recording program like Audacity. I was curious about that too.
I got one of these yesterday £260 pown shop.
How do you save all the changes you made?
Can you edit the notes to play notes that you personally programmed in? I love arpeggio's, but I want to create my own patterns. Either way I guess I could use it with the piano roll on fl studio to make it more coplex. If you haven't used a hardware synth with Fl Studio I highly suggest it btw. It's super fun.

It has a mode that will arpeggiate in the order that you hold the keys down. But since the MiniNova doesn't have a sequencer the notes can't be programmed ahead of time. If you like the sound of the nova engine but want to make patterns, I suggest looking into the Circuit groove boxes. I have the Circuit tracks and it is a fantastic sequencer.
If you were using this live and wanted to seamlessly switch from one patch to another, is there a better way than favorites? Also are the patch arrows different in some way than the data wheel?
@System-1541

On-board the best way to switch patches is through favorites. If you have a sequencer in your rig I'd suggest sending program change messages though. The patch buttons just allow you to switch one at a time while the data knob is just a faster way to cycle through patches.

A LITTLE HELP PLEASE: I recently got one of these keyboards at a yard sale, and i got it for $90 I was wondering if it comes with any kind/type of accompaniment with it... you know, like drums, background band type of music??? And it changes when you switch chords and stuff... please help me with this question... i have the instruction booklet being mailed to me as we speak, but its just so cool, i cant wait... any input would be appreciated. Thank You, Jeremy in Virginia, VA Beach (east coast) ⛱️

No. this is just a digital 3 oscillator synthesizer. What you want is a Arranger Keyboard or a workstation. Those play samples of many types of recorded instruments. The mininova is a synthesizer where you make your own sounds with the 3 oscillators, or download sounds from the internet and transfer them to the synth. You can make sounds on the synth or in a editor on the PC.

I go over the mod matrix pretty extensively in my ambient pad video here: kzread.info/dash/bejne/ZaCbldiEh6e9mrA.html. Hope it helps.
Nice explanation but my eyes are a little bit in trance jaja😅
Which one would be easier for a beginner this one or the micro korg?
@System-1541
2 жыл бұрын
They're pretty much on par with each other. The microkorg has a simpler synth engine so that might make it easier. Although I'd only recommend a synth that has fewer on board controls like the MiniNova or Microkorg to a more experienced synth user. The reason is that you have to go through a lot of menus to edit sounds. You have to have an idea of what you want to make and how you'll do it before you start making a sound. If you want something polyphonic (multiple notes at once) that won't break the bank I'd recommend the Roland Gaia sh-01. They're not bad on the used market. If you don't mind monophonic (only one note at a time), you can't go wrong with the Behringer Model D and a midi controller or one of korg's volcas. The point is, the more knobs and sliders it has, the easier it is to use. It looks more complicated but it's actually the best place for a beginner to start.

And another great one would be the Behringer Deep Mind 6. Also we'll priced on the used market.
