Bravo. May Ireland always be free from negative foreign influence, nothing wrong with benevolent Nationalism, and National Sovereignty!!
It took me about four weeks to learn how to sing Amhrán na bhFiann with a Mayo Accent... I sing it loud and proud wherever and whenever I can. I am so proud to be Irish.... what's funny because I am german.

Das kann ich überbieten 😂 My Father is Irish actually I'm even Born in Ireland. But my family moved to Austria when I was about 4 years old. Und somit 4 Jahre Irland 48 Jahre Österreich. Mein Englisch ist rostiger als ein alter Opel. 😂😂😂 von gälisch ganz zu schweigen

@tomkronberger8710 "Rustier than an oul Opel"..😂😅😂 & so is my Gaelige🤔 but it was the love of Irish Rugby that's encouraged me to start studying it as my ancestral language again. SO ☘️🇨🇮COYBIG🇮🇪☘️ by elevating our National Team to the "Number One" spot in the.. "Rugby Union World Rankings"... I'm determined to learn the National Anthem in Irish (Gaelige) again... whilst still respecting our "Compromise Rugby Anthem"..of "Ireland's Call"...for the Sake & Spirit of National Unity within both the "Players & Supporters" of the Irish Rugby Team & Coaching Staff which bring so much pride & determination to the.. ☘️"Entire Island Of Ireland."☘️

"Dia dhuit Molly, Go raibh mile mait agat" ...for all the translation & pronunciation of.. "Amhrán na bhFiann"...& an excellent video lesson. Slan.
I recall a family friend, Gone now and sorely missed, Paddy Carroll, a soldier of 1916-22. I recall his trials and travails, and will think of him when I hear the Anthem again. You got me all " misty" with this piece, thank you, as I will spend the evening in fond memory of Paddy Carroll of Co. Leitrim. RIP Paddy, and eternal thanks for your sacrifice.
Thank you so much for this. My son and I are studying Irish and your videos have been immensely helpful to us.

Really enjoyable and informative video Molly. Peader Kearney one of the writers of Amhrán na bhFiann is the uncle of the famous Irish writer Brendan Behan.
Dia dhuit Molly! I thank you from the very core of my heart for uploading such a nice video! Everyone loves our national anthem in my family and thus I really really appreciate it! Unlike some members of my family and my friends,I don't find it tough to pronounce! Good job! Thaitin an físeán go mór liom mar is breá liom ár n-amhrán náisiúnta! Maith thú! Míle buíochas agus slán tamall!
Thank you ever so much for this. So useful. So insightful.
As a proud Irish man, I’m embarrassed that I don’t know the Irish National Anthem. With the help of your video, I’m going to learn both the English and most importantly the Irish versions. I’ll also share it with my kids. Thinks again, ❤️🇮🇪
As a geordie I hardly have a grasp of the English language. Here to learn the anthem of my ancestors in their tongue.
Thank you. As a new Irish citizen I would love to be able to sing this in Irish and this will be very helpful
brought it all back to me thanks
Dia dhuit Molly! I'm absolutely delighted by your video! Really loved it,you told many details I was not aware of! By the way I am trying to learn it by heart ! Físeán iontach agus dála an scéil táim ag iarraidh é a fhoghlaim de chroí! Go raibh maith agat agus slán go fóill!
Thanks for this..im obviously irish myself but needed a refresh before explaining to my friends from other isles
Haha I love how when you speak Irish the captions say [Music] when all you're saying is 'welcome to the channel'🤣PROOF that Irish is as beautiful as music, even KZread admits it! 😉 Also: you have a lovely sweet voice. I'd listen to that! I like the line 'some have come from a land beyond the wave' - as a French girl across the sea I feel included - like I can love Ireland even if I'm separated from her.
There’s an old story that some musicians in a pub were approached by an American tourist and asked if they could play his favourite Irish tune - he wasn’t sure of its name but it has the line ‘Shoving Connie, around the field…’ 😅
Thank you. Really helpful for me, as I learn our anthem ❤
Well done, Molly. Go raibh maith agat!

A great help to a mature student
Very cool!
Awesome, thank you! I'm a diaspora citizen of Ireland through my grandmother, and it occurred to me I should learn the national anthem. I didn't even realize it was normally sung in Irish. Your video was very helpful. Cheers!
Ah mo caileen deas, go raibh mila mait agut. What about a personal rendition in you own very lovely voice of at least the first verse??(ah go on, do it, Pleeeze) I well remember in the older times we used to sing (yes sing!) the National Anthem in the picture house when the pictures'Movies' was ended. A few of the less patriotic used to dash out just before the movie was over so'as they wouldn't have to be waiting for the rush out??..slan go foill. Breandan O Murcada

Rejoice the fact that an Irish man is now as US President - The Most Powerful man on Earth !
Enjoyed the video, and the story behind the anthem. On Jan 20, my country’s anthem will once again be The Star Spangled Banner, to be sung with pride, replacing “Yakety Sax” as our anthem of the last four years. Sorry about all that, world.

Go raibh mhaith agat! Thank you, Molly. I've been looking for a decent translation for quite some time. If you don't mind me asking, is Irish still used much in the Republic Of Ireland? Or Ulster? I only ask as I'm moving to the Republic some time in the next few years.

Donegal, Cavan and Monaghan are in Ulster but part of the republic 😊 nobody would speak Irish instead of English unless in the Gaeltacht but there are society’s and groups for it if you want to speak it👍🏻 like conradh na Gaeilge or just other local groups and communities

Gaelic is not confined to the Gaeltacht, that's civil war politics

I’ve seen ‘foai’ phonetically said or heard as as fwee foy fay and ‘chugainn’ said or heard as coo-in qween chooon. Is this due to regional dialect differences? It’s Irish speakers I’ve heard these differences
I found myself translating certain words to Munster dialect for shits and giggles. Lol
Irish Gaelic will not be suppressed by england
How can you say I Want a United Ireland" cousin!
Have you literally translation of Irish version to English?
I love the Irish language but damn, I need to at least be able to kind of sound it out when reading/learning. 🥴
FFS. My Dad's Irish. Me mam's Finnish. Thanks for giving me the two hardest languages in Europe. All I need is a Hungarian relative and I'm properly bollixed.

my Granny came from a village called Ballure It is on the road to Kilkelly not too far from the border with Roscomain. I knew the Gallagher's of Forde's pub in kiltimagh. Vera, Tommy, and Lil Forde ran the pub. Jimmy Gallagher and Tommy were both of the Mayo regiment As far as my Granny's family went her father was Tommy Cannon married to Bridget Gallagher. Both the Cannons and Gallagher's were related to the Carroll's do to a double marriage. My Granny, MaryAnne Cannon had a maternal grandmother named Mariah Carroll. Mariah would have spoken Gaelga as her first language. Not sure how long Donegal clans have been in Mayo. It may have had something to do with the forced migrations to Mayo during the Cromwellian invasion.

It should be noted that the English version shown here is not an absolutely accurate translation of the Irish words. To maintain the metre in English some liberty had to taken with language.
