After graduating on drums at the Guildhall School of Music in 1999, Pat has performed and recorded with Liane Carroll, The James Taylor Quartet, Tim Minchin, The Ronnie Scotts All Stars, Zigaboo Modeliste (The Meters), Earl Thomas, Paddy Milner, Phil Stevenson Trio, The Downtown Dukes, 24 Pesos, The Puppini Sisters, Sandi Thom, and Bernard Purdie amongst others.
He has toured extensively over America, Russia, Asia and Europe, playing many well respected venues, festivals, T.V and radio slots. Pat also plays chromatic harmonica and is a featured soloist on two albums by Will Grove-White ( Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain).
His own projects include ‘The Coalminers’, dedicated to playing New Orleans funk and soul, and 'June Afternoon', an organ trio featuring Ross Stanley and Nat Martin.
In this online drum lesson, Pat Levett will walk you through some New Orleans drumming history and teach you all the rhythms and patterns you need to know along the way.
By the end of the course you'll be able to play lots of different styles of New Orleans music - from Second Line Drumming to a Dirge, from Fats Domino's Rock and Roll to iconic Allen Toussaint funky jams.
...and most importantly, you'll be able to incorporate all this into your own style of playing.
This is not a history lesson, although history is involved, but a full course packed with tons ideas on the drums that will be relevant to any style of modern music!
