Learn the basics of the 2023 Ford Edge ST Line

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

The Ford Edge ST-Line has a good balance of performance and style. It has a lot of similar features as the regular ST trim level, without the larger 2.7L turbocharged engine. You'll find the reverse sensing system, heated 1st row seats with ActiveX faux leather, an available sunroof and so much more!
In this quick video I go over what you'll be able to find in the 2023 Ford Edge ST-Line, while covering off differences in other trim levels. You'll learn about the exterior style, interior space, features and more!

    Thank you for your thorough review! I've always been curious about if the rear seat reclines, glad you covered this. Does the ST Line comes with front camera? Does it have the remote start option..am assuming those would be extra

    You're welcome! The front camera is only in the Titanium and ST unfortunately but it would have remote start standard. You can start right from the Ford or by using the FordPass phone app

    Hi Steve , we had been talking about the Escape platinum I ordered , well I talked to the dealer today (Mt. Brydges Ford) and the timeline for build is unknown and he thinks it's parts shortage related. Sooooo , I bought an in stock 2024 model they just got in and is much the same as the ST line you reviewed here but it is in active silver with the same interior. I don't think there is much or any changes from the 2023 that I noticed but I need to spend more time with it. As always great review and I tagged it so I can go over it again when I get the new Edge. Thanks ! I should add I think mine has the number pad in the door pillar.

    Hey John! Exciting about the change over to the Edge over the Escape. The only big change between the 2023 and 2024 is with factory navigation. It looks like the 2024 model only has the option for connected navigation so after the first year you have to subscribe to navigation through the FordPass app to keep using it but there's always the option to switch to Android Auto or Apple CarPlay after that first year. Hope you enjoy the new ride!

    @@CarsWithSteve Thanks for the info Steve. I will be picking it up next week sometime and I'll let you know my thoughts after I get a few K's on it. Something else I did notice and liked was the transmission selector dial did not spin around like the Escape which felt kind of cheap and flimsy.

    @@CarsWithSteve Steve with the 1 year NAV I was wondering.....I have a Garmin 66 , if it was in the Edge with me would it connect and display on the screen ???

  • @CarsWithSteve

    @CarsWithSteve

    Unfortunately the screen doesn't support 3rd party nav systems outside of connecting through CarPlay or Android Auto and using maps through your phone. The only option would be to find a Sync 4 screen with connected built in nav (from a wrecked Edge) and then have it programmed with your VIN

    @@CarsWithSteve OK , good to know . Was thinking about that and wasn't sure if it would just connect. Thanks for your time. BTW , the Ford dealer owner I told him how good your tutorial vids were for understanding the systems so I think he's going to have a look and mention new owners check them out.

    @@louism8217 OK that's good . I just ordered a 2023 Escape and it has the key code on the door pillar so I can unlock it there if needed but I did see one review where the fellow mentioned you could leave the fob in the car. Maybe it's different with that feature.

    @johnready630 yes, you can lock your fob in the car on purpose if you were hiking or something and could use the keypad to get in. It just prevents accidental locking. Which for me usually happens when my wife goes back to the car first and I'm driving.

    Exactly what Louis said.. but if the fob is in the car and you use the 5 digit keyless entry pad to lock it actually locks the fob in the car. You'd need to use the keyless pad, secondary fob or FordPass app to get back in

    Why would someone pay 53k USD for a top of the line? You can get an Acura Mdx ShAWD With a V6 and 3rd row for 2k more. The Acura has a better reliability, crash test ratings and its a luxury SUV

  • @CarsWithSteve

    @CarsWithSteve

    8 ай бұрын

    The $53k option for the Edge is the ST which has a 2.7L turbo - 335 hp / 380 lb-ft torque vs the 3.0L in the Type S MDX which is 335 hp / 354 lb-ft torque.. The Type S is $13k more than the Edge ST. So they'd pay $13k less for the Edge to get more performance. Some people just keep driving brands they've had a good experience with and aren't open to other options...

    "There isn't a button inside to figure out if you want to go all wheel drive unfortunately" STOP RIGHT THERE! Systems that DO NOT have a button are what you want, and one reason that steers me to the Ford Edge vs. Chevy. - With the ones with the button: A. When you turn it on, the PTO, driveshaft, and power to the rear wheels is always active. So you are going to leave it on all winter? B. When the button is off, the AWD is off. You have to find yourself in a jam such as trying to get up an icy hill with the front end trying to slide sideways, and the traction control kicking in and you going nowhere, with other vehicles behind you, or you find yourself losing momentum on your street where the plows haven't made it yet. You are not in the middle of handling a situation and breaking concentration to find and push the AWD button is not the first thing on your mind. *The older AWD systems had continually spinning PTOs and driveshafts. This is a modification of those unintelligent systems so you can turn then off when not needed, and thus simply the old way with a method to deactivate it. - The Ford System: A. By default the Ford system is ALWAYS OFF. The PTO is not even engaged to the transmission, the driveshaft is not turning, and the clutch in the differential case is not engaged. B. The computer senses rain, temperature, acceleration, throttle position, and more. When you are stopped, the system will activate to start you out. As soon as you get moving and wheels are not spinning, it releases. If you decide to accelerate, beyond a certain amount and with current factors being considered, it will send power to the rear wheels. E.G. it sets things up to where the problem doesn't even occur, and the traction control can vector the power using the brakes on the spinning tire(s). *If there was a button to turn THIS system off, that would be fine, but this is not how the systems with buttons work.

  • @CarsWithSteve

    @CarsWithSteve

    I wouldn't want to turn the system off at all, it would be a button to permanently lock out into AWD. Agree with your reasons on the Ford intelligent AWD system though, you explained them well!
