    Visit the REMADE VERSION of my Spanish course: kzread.info/dash/bejne/hZhryLyikcLUdc4.html (better video-quality, faster pace, more details) ► Find Full List of Lessons, Tests and Quizzes → www.spanishfreelessonsonline.com Unfortunately the first videos don't have a very neat image. But in my website, if you go to the List of Lessons, you will also find the Notes for all these Spanish lessons. If you have any doubts regarding what is written on the whiteboard, the class-notes may be helpful. Below. let me share with you some useful links from my course that you may find useful, even though it has nothing to do with your question. If you go to my website, under List of Lessons (where you will find the update index) you will find the links to the notes of all these first lessons. Notes will be helpful especially because reading is not very easy in my first videos. But especially, I recommend you to do the respective Spanish quiz after finishing each one of the long compiled videos. Thanks you so much for your feedback, Sun Flower. Sorry for the video quality of the many first videos. The more recent ones are much better, and now I began to add subtitles and text boxes with the translation as well. And very soon I will be uploading very short videos on which I will base a set of exercises that I will host on my website. Don't miss the Spanish quizzes on my website, as well. They are great if you want to practice and make sure you let it all the new things you are learning. As everything else, they are totally free. And I greatly recommend them. Rodrigo

    Hola Rodrigo! I just wanted to thank you again for making these superb videos. I spent a lot of money taking Spanish Classes when I came to Buenos Aires. Your classes are much better and they're free! Plus I can study at home when I have the time to concentrate on learning Spanish. I appreciate the time you take to explain all the details, such as accents and origin, etc. I give you an A+ for teaching!! Muchas Gracias, Tom de Texas

    +Tulsatom Bob Hi Bob. I'm glad to see that you are still following my Spanish course, and that the lessons are helping you. This year I plan to redesign the website to make it look more professional and user-friendly. I haven't been to TX for some years already. I worked some years for a Texas based company called Sabre Holdings. And I traveled to Texas a few times; specifically to DFW. I found Texans very friendly, and I made a couple good friends over there. Kind regards from a Uruguayan living in Brasilia.

    Hello Andrea. Thanks for your kind feedback. I'm glad that my lessons have been helpful :-) Let me suggest you to watch the newer version of my Spanish course for English speakers, which has better quality and faster pace than the older videos. I'm currently remaking the 1st part of my Spanish course. Recently, I published the following compilation that you will like, because of the improved video-quality and more details: kzread.info/dash/bejne/hZhryLyikcLUdc4.html If you go to my website, under List of Lessons (where you will find the update index) you will find the links to the notes of all these first lessons. Notes will be helpful especially because reading is not very easy in my first videos. At the beginning, the video quality is quite poor. Unfortunately I was neither using a good camera nor good lighting when I started. That was due to inexperience. But I will soon be publishing a remake of these old lessons with much better quality. I hope you will like them better. However, the content of the original ones is still very good. +nathantim Hello Nathan. Welcome to my Spanish lessons. If you like birds, you can enjoy their chirping without any guilt or disgust. I never had any caged birds. Once I had a caged hamster when I was a child, and I regret it. But the chirping you can hear in some videos is from free birds. I live in Brasilia city, in a residential neighbourhood where you can hear more birds than cars. It's like that every morning. So, if you can hear birds chirping, that means that I recorded that video in the morning. They are many and loud. And they can still be heard even when I shut the windows to record the lessons. However, when I record in the afternoon they are usually silent, I think. In my latest Spanish lessons (and also my English lessons for Spanish speakers) I am focusing on spoken Spanish and English, and I have added subtitles (below) and simultaneous translation on the right-hand side. I apologize for the poor video-quality of the many first lessons. But you will notice that the more recent ones are much better. Because I changed the camera, the location and the lighting. Also, in the latest ones you will notice that instead of using the whiteboard, I have been adding subtitles and text-boxes with the translation. In my website, if you go to the List of Lessons, you will also find the Notes for all these Spanish lessons. If you have any doubts regarding what is written on the whiteboard, the class-notes may be helpful. Below. let me share with you some useful links from my course that you may find useful, even though it has nothing to do with your question. The following links may be useful: Index of lessons: www.spanishfreelessonsonline.com/list-of-lessons/ Spanish Quizzes and Tests: www.spanishfreelessonsonline.com/spanish-quizzes/ In my next Spanish lessons I will be focusing much more on spoken Spanish. And I will be adding subtitles and translation notes inside the videos. I'm sure you will find these very helpful after you have gone through some of the grammar first. Good luck, and don't hesitate to write if you have any questions. Rodrigo

    My goodness, I'm sorry for just jumping to that conclusion. I should have thought about other possibilities, like where you live, etc. I'm going to do the right thing and just delete my dumb comment. Anyway, I keep going back and forth with Spanish. I live in San Antonio, Texas, USA. Fairly close to Mexico, so there are a lot of Spanish speaking folks here. When I get the time I just need to buckle down and watch your videos from start to finish. No distractions, no skipping around. I get discouraged because even though I know a lot of phrases in Spanish, I really don't know anything yet, lol. It's great to know that you go in such detail which is what is needed to truly learn a language.

If you are looking to learn the language methodically, step by step, I recommend you to do the full course together with the online quizzes. However, you can jump through the lessons any time you feel the need or the curiosity to learn a specific topic. Here you can find the quizzes: spanishfreelessonsonline.com/spanish-quizzes/ You can find all my Spanish lessons in numerical order here (individual lessons): kzread.info/dash/bejne/Znp2k9CIZsbRiqw.html Or you can study from the same lessons but compiled into longer videos: kzread.info/dash/bejne/hZhryLyikcLUdc4.html If you follow the lessons in order you will notice that suddenly it jumps to older videos. That is the beginning of the original Spanish course. All the tests and quizzes from my website are based on those. Don't hesitate to ask if you have any questions!

But especially, I recommend you to do the respective Spanish quiz after finishing each one of the long compiled videos. You are welcome,Tristan! Welcome to my Spanish course. If you are just beginning to watch my Spanish lessons, let me suggest you to watch the newer version of my Spanish course for English speakers, which has better quality and faster pace than the older videos. Hello Sallih. Thanks for your kind message, and welcome to my Spanish lessons. Hola acet34. Para ver todos los videos y clases de mi canal: kzread.info/dron/R6K-ZudJ0CNJjNVDqeMYBA.html Aquí encontrarás el índice de clases de ingles publicadas ordenadas numéricamente: IMPORTANTE: En varios de los videos hay carteles con Notas Aclaratorias y Fe de Erratas que pueden verse en diferentes momentos de la clase, cuando miras el video en KZread. hello rodrigo ,, thank you very much for these wonderful lessons ,, i have question about lesson six ,, if i conjugate the verb ( hablarse ) with the first person then it will be ( yo me hablo ) is that mean "" i speak to my self "" please if you can to explain .... and i am really appreciated to you

  • @RodrigoIdiomas

    @RodrigoIdiomas

    8 жыл бұрын

    +jameel jameel Hi Jameel. Practically, every Spanish verb can become reflexive, and be used as a reflexive verb. Like in the example you just wrote. Sometimes, the awkwardness of using a certain verb as reflexive is a bit evident. But nevertheless, there is usually at least an abstract or weird way of using it. You wrote the sentence alright. "Yo me hablo" is the correct way of using HABLARSE in the present tense, for the 1st person. It means "I speak to myself" or "I talk to myself". Like that, the phrase sounds awkward. But the phrase is OK and can be used whenever it's needed. Practically any verb can be used as reflexive. For example, the verb TO EAT (comer) can become COMERSE (TO EAT ONESELF). It can be used, obviously, for awkward expressions... but also for everyday phrases. Like, for example, "él se come las uñas" (he eats his nails). In Spanish, where referring to YOUR OWN food, you can also use the reflexive verb. For example, "él se come toda la comida". Of course, to say "el come toda su comida" is perfect! But the first sentence is also alright, although less used.

    First I want to say I love your lessons and they’re very informative and easy to understand, but I have a question on the lesson about the two irregular verbs haber and tener. You gave examples on the verb tener such as Tengo hambre and Tengo miedo; my question is can you also say yo estoy hambre and yo estoy miedo. Im pretty sure you can, but for a native Spanish speakers is one more commonly used than the other or does it even matter? Again thanks so much for the lessons I’m learning so much!

    Hello Treasure. Welcome to my Spanish course. I'm glad that you are finding the videos helpful. Regarding your question, you are right but you are missing something. The correct way would "estoy con hambre" and "estoy con miedo". If you'd like to see some more of my videos regarding HABER and TENER visit the index and open lessons Nbr. 283, 119, 160, 161, and Nbr. 7 from the Remade lessons. Hello Margaret. My first advice is to read the class-notes while you're studying the video-lessons. My 2nd and most important advice is to do each Spanish quiz as you finish studying each one of the compiled Spanish lessons. Practice is essential for retaining what you have learned, and to correct any misinterpretations. And my 3rd advice is to watch my Spanish lesson Nbr. 218, because there I mention several tips for learning in a more effective manner ;-)

  • @RodrigoIdiomas

    @RodrigoIdiomas

    7 жыл бұрын

    Hello Poeticsounds. Welcome to my Free Spanish lessons on KZread. The more you study, the better. But mainly you have to set goals that you know you can accomplish. If 30 minutes a day is doable for you, then that is alright. But it's important that you study at least a bit everyday. Unlike other disciplines, languages are master just through practice. You can shorten the time it takes to learn math, literature, history, physics, or whatever if you a genius or if you have an outstanding memory. But this doesn't help much when it come to learning languages. Only patience and discipline. Through habit any Spanish will become second nature to you. And then you will be able to build sentences naturally. So, it's better to study 30 minutes everyday, than 2 hours during the first days, and then stop for 3, 4 days. In my newest Spanish lessons (and also my English lessons for Spanish speakers) I am focusing on spoken Spanish and English, and I have added subtitles (below) and simultaneous translation on the right-hand side. And if you open the description of the video, you will find the links for Facebook. Maybe you can find some other of my students that would like to practice via chat. Or you can share you progress, questions or concerns on my page. Hola Rodrigo :) Thanks a lot for all your efforts. I recently started learning Spanish with Duolingo, but I realized I was learning without necessarily understanding why things are the way they are. Your lessons are really helping me to make sense of things I had mostly just learnt by heart. Quick question: Since the article in Spanish is not necessary because of the way a verb is conjugated, how would I know if you are talking about "ustedes vs ellos or ellas" since they are conjugated the same way? p.s Dónde vives? Me gusta el sonido de los pájaros exóticas en el fondo (Is that written ok?) jijijiji

    +Sabrina P Hi Sabrina. Thanks for your message. I am currently living in Brasilia, the capital city of Brazil. It is a planned city, and therefore it is very green, full of fruit trees everywhere, and parks. And you can hear the birds more than the cars or the people. It is very nice in that sense. As for your first question, you need a context in order to be able to determine whether the subject is "ustedes" or "ellos" (something similar as with "you" and "you" in English). ¿Van a ir al cine? - Here I can't tell whether the subject is "you-plural" or "they". However, you wont have this problem in Spain, because they use "vosotros" instead of "ustedes". And it therefore has a unique conjugation of its own. Have you visited the Spanish Tests' section in my website? Those tests cover the topic of all these lessons. They are very good. Kind regards, Rodrigo

    Muchas gracias por tu respuesta :) Eres un buen maestro!! I will definitely check out the test section on your site. Wow Brazil! That's wonderful. I thought maybe Costa Rica hehe. But hearing more birds than cars is so awesome! I only started learning Spanish a month ago but I find that I can understand more than 70% already. I guess it really helps that I speak French because of the latin root. So your classes have been a great help in learning about all the rules and better understanding the principles of grammer :)

    I've viewed this video already. But as I was reviewing my notes from your lessons i got confused with the conjugation of llamarse/lammar verb again. Why do we have to add the indirect object pronoun before the verb llamarse/llamar. While the hablar verb there isn't any?

  • @RodrigoIdiomas

    @RodrigoIdiomas

    6 жыл бұрын

    Depending on the use you will have to put it before or after. Either with "llamarse" or with "hablarse". It's just that the indirect object pronoun make more sense with some verbs than with others. There is no grammatical prohibition to use it with "hablar". But the practical reasons for using it with the verbo HABLAR aren't very obvious. You could use it, for example, to refer to somebody that is talking to himself. But this is a bit unusual. However, LLAMARSE is more helpful as a verb: llamar = to call llamarse = to be called For example: Llamaré a un amigo = I will call a friend. Me llamo Rodrigo = I am called (my name is) Rodrigo. If you want to begin my Spanish course, let me suggest you to first watch the newer version, which has better quality and faster pace than the older videos. thank you for answering my previous question! i really appreciate your effort in helping me learn spanish! i got another question. You mentioned to me before about the use of " tilde " and how they can have an effect on the meaning of the word. At 1:14:03 you said that QUE means "to" but at 1:17:09 you said QUÉ means "what". Although they are spelt the same they have different meanings. Is it because of the tilde?

    Howdy! Yes; the Spanish accent mark distinguishes it from the other word that doesn't carry the mark. Therefore, these are different words. qué = what que = that For example: Dijo que le había gustado = He said that he had liked it. Te dije que te fueras = I told you (that) to leave.

    good day rodrigo .. please i have a question about lesson 10 ( spanish questions words ) if you don't mind ,, the phrase ( como te llamas ? ) is equal to ( what's your name ? ) as you write .. my question is : is it letterly means ( what you call yourself ? ) ?? i think so ,, because if we look to the conjugation of the verb ( llamar ) we will see it as ( llamas ) and that lead us to conclude that the verb conjugation for the second single person ( you = tu ) ,, then the phrase have to be { como ( tu ) te llamas ? } which is mean ( what you call yourself ? ) please i want to know if my conclusion is right or wrong ,,,, ? and if i write in spanish this phrase ( como se llamo ? ) is it right phrase ? and if it's right phrase ,, is it means ( how i call him ? ) i hope i don't bother you thank you very much

    +jameel jameel Hi Jameel: Your conclusion is correct. "¿Cómo te llamas?" means "what is your name?". But literally it means "what do you call yourself?". As for "¿cómo se llamo?", the sentence is wrong. That is because the reflexive pronoun "se" refers to the 3rd person (singular and plural), but "llamo" is conjugated in the 1st person in the singular. The correct phrase would be: ¿Cómo se llama? - What's his name? ¿Cómo me llamo? - What's my name?

    Hello Pov. I'm currently remaking the 1st part of my Spanish course. Recently, I published the new Lesson Nbr. 9 with better video-quality, faster pace, and more in-depth details. I recommend you to begin with these videos. You'll learn good grammar. Here you will find the 1st one: kzread.info/dash/bejne/oaGllaioirmunbw.html If you go to my website, under List of Lessons (where you will find the update index) you will find the links to the notes of all these first lessons. But especially, I recommend you to do the respective Spanish quiz after finishing each one of the long compiled videos. Hello, In the Hebrew language when you add the special endings to verbs you do not have to say the pronoun as it is implied. Is it the same in Spanish or do you have to say the pronoun. For example, if I wanted to say...' yo me llamo Juan ' ... could I just say ...' me llamo Juan'...?

  • @RodrigoIdiomas

    @RodrigoIdiomas

    7 жыл бұрын

    Exactly. In Spanish you do not need to specify the subject pronoun either, because the verbal endings are rich enough to show who you are talking about. Therefore, "me llamo Juan" is just as fine. I'm confused by this lesson and think I may have missed something. If you say, "yo me llamo juan" isn't that redundant? Doesn't "llamo" already signify first person? To me it seems like that would translate to, "I my name is Juan" if you said it that way.

    It's part of the personality of Spanish language: so full of reflexive form of verbs! But it is that way. Like, for example, to say "I like apples" we say "me gustan las manzanas". Look a the difference between the verb in the transitive form vs. the reflexive form: llamar - to call (something/somebody) llamarse - to be called Examples: Llamaré a Juan - I will call Juan Me llamo Juan - I am called Juan

    Oh, really? Sorry about that! You would answer like this: Mi dirección es ... "mi" is the possessive adjective. "me" is something different. It's what we call "pronombre reflexivo". I apologize for the poor video-quality of the many first lessons. But you will notice that the more recent ones are much better. Because I changed the camera, the location and the lighting. In my latest Spanish lessons (and also my English lessons for Spanish speakers) I am focusing on spoken Spanish and English, and I have added subtitles (below) and simultaneous translation on the right-hand side. And if you open the description of the video, you will find the links for Facebook. Maybe you can find some other of my students that would like to practice via chat. Or you can share you progress, questions or concerns on my page. • @RodrigoIdiomas

    @RodrigoIdiomas

    8 жыл бұрын

    +Heather Moore You are correct: "mi" is Spanish for "my". But this sentence doesn't carry a "my". Unlike in English, In Spanish reflexive verbs are very common. The exact word by word translation for "me llamo Carlos" would be "myself I call Carlos". So, "me" is Spanish for "myself", not for "my". Other common examples where we use reflexive verbs in Spanish: Me gusta (I like it / I like...) Me caí (I fell) Me duele (It hurts) Me arde (it hurts / burns) Me quema (it burns) And a very long etc. As for your 2nd question: There are 2 correct ways to say "My name is Carlos": - Me llamo Carlos (I am called Carlos) - This is by far the most common. - Mi nombre es Carlos (I am called Carlos) - Less common. "es" is Spanish for "is". "Me llamo es Carlos" would be the same as saying "I am called is Carlos", which is wrong. I just watched a couple of your videos. They are very impressive. Is that you with short hair?

    Hello Igor. Welcome to my Spanish course. I don't have a bird. But when I recorded the video I was living in a very residential area in Brasilia, the capital city of Brazil. It is a very green city, full of fruit trees everywhere, and in the mornings you can listen to the birds chirping more often than the cars or people talking. A few years ago a student, out of the blue, wrote a comment insulting me for "keeping a caged bird", and said it should be me who was in a cage myself. The truth is: I don't have birds at home! If you are just beginning, let me suggest you to first watch the newer videos, which have better quality and faster pace than the older. I'm currently remaking the 1st part of my Spanish course. • @RodrigoIdiomas

    @RodrigoIdiomas

    8 жыл бұрын

    +jess hall Hi Jess, "Salidas" is a noun, not a verb. "Salidas" is the plural for "outing/exit/way out". You need a verb in the sentence. "Ir" is "to go". "Irse" is to "leave/exit/go away" (notice how common reflexive verbs are in Spanish). "Te vas" is the reflexive verb "irse" in Simple Present for the 2nd person in the singular (you). Therefore, "por qué te vas" menas "why do you leave/go away?".

    +jess hall Yes; it does. "Sal" is the imperative-affirmative form of the verb "salir" (to leave). "Salida" is the noun. Like, for example, "correr" (to run) and "corrida" (a race). Or "entrar" (to enter/go in/get in) and "entrada" (entrance).

  • @RodrigoIdiomas

    @RodrigoIdiomas

    +jess hall "Estoy aprendiendo mucho de ti" (this would be the right way to say it) - I am learning (the "ing" in spanish is "ando" or "endo" depending on the verb). Therefore, "estoy aprendiendo". - when we say "a lot" there is no gender involved. Therefore we say "mucho". - mine/your/him/her/us/you/them - mí/ti/él/ella/nosotros/vosotros or ustedes/ellos. Therefore, we should use "ti" instead of "tú". "Tú" is only for subject; not for predicate. It's great that you practice your Spanish. That is the best attitude to learn ;-)
