LEARN SLINKY TRICKS! Lesson 1: The Energy Beam

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

You can get the slinky I'm using in this video here: amzn.to/3x6phOK
NOTE When last I bought these in 2017, they started making them like 5mm shorter than usual, which made them less good for tricks. I would recommend a HyperSpring instead:

    I know I’m a little late, but do you think you could do a video on some of the simpler variations on the energy beam? I’ve been practicing the energy beam for a couple of days now and I pretty much have it down, but I’m having trouble learning the moves you did towards the end of the video, and I honestly haven’t come across and tutorial videos that are as good as yours.

  • @SlinkyJosh

    @SlinkyJosh

    3 жыл бұрын

    Yes, I'll make a video about this eventually, but the "stretchiness" of the slinky (the spring constant, in physics terms) determines how easily you can do things like the more advanced energy beams I demonstrate at the end of this video. If it's too stretchy, some more advanced tricks will be really difficult or impossible for humans. The ones I sell on my website are perfect for all tricks though!

    So what’s the difference between the slinky you sell vs. one I can find at the dollar store? Is it harder to tangle? Does it have a special design to make it more suitable for advanced tricks?

  • @SlinkyJosh

    @SlinkyJosh

    3 жыл бұрын

    I will make a video on this soon, but you want one that has the proper spring constant (a measure of how "floppy" vs "stiff" it is) that will allow you to perform more advanced tricks, like the up-down twisting variations I do at the end of this video. If it's too floppy, these tricks will be more difficult or impossible, and it will become more easily tangled. The ones I currently sell on my website (not the one in this video unfortunately) are perfect for all beginner and advanced moves, and they're bigger than one you are likely to find in a dollar store.

    Great tutorial. But do you have a tip on how to prevent it from slacking? No matter how far I place my hands apart, and no matter how little or hard I jerk my hands, after 2 or 3 times going back and forth, all the energy is gone and it just slacks.

  • @SlinkyJosh

    @SlinkyJosh

    4 жыл бұрын

    Good question! Make sure you're only PULLING. This won't work if you try to push the coils around. You have to pull them downward and away from each other. Also, make sure that the hand you pull with goes a little bit below the other hand, so that gravity can help you out. Let me know if this works!
