You can get the slinky I'm using in this video here: amzn.to/3x6phOK
NOTE When last I bought these in 2017, they started making them like 5mm shorter than usual, which made them less good for tricks. I would recommend a HyperSpring instead:

Small tip: don’t put your hands too far from each other and go from slow to fast
How did get here...
I know I’m a little late, but do you think you could do a video on some of the simpler variations on the energy beam? I’ve been practicing the energy beam for a couple of days now and I pretty much have it down, but I’m having trouble learning the moves you did towards the end of the video, and I honestly haven’t come across and tutorial videos that are as good as yours.

Ok i just bought one because of this tutorial
I found you on insta and so glad you have tutorials. I went out and bought a cheap slinky to try. Just curious does it matter the size or quality of the slinky?? Thank you for sharing your gifts! This is going to be fun, I already play poi and contact staff so slinky flow sounds great!

Yes, I'll make a video about this eventually, but the "stretchiness" of the slinky (the spring constant, in physics terms) determines how easily you can do things like the more advanced energy beams I demonstrate at the end of this video. If it's too stretchy, some more advanced tricks will be really difficult or impossible for humans. The ones I sell on my website are perfect for all tricks though!
Ty
I suck at using slinkys. I only know the beginner moves but this helped me. Thnx. I'll keep practicing!
now i wanna buy but the shops arent selling those anymore

Curious, can I do this with a cheap slinky, like from the dollar store?
Nice hat
Took me ten minutes what's next note I'm a juggler that specializes in 18 obgect manipulation props. the closest thing I can compare this to that I've done before is the hand motions of the Diablo yo-yo or possibly the rotations needed for a pair of poi balls.

Hi c: i have a metal slinky, it doesnt work too well haha i think its because this is more heavy that a plastic one, right? this is awesome :3 loved it
@SlinkyJosh
7 жыл бұрын
Valentina Morales You can still do it with a metal one! The only problem is that those tend to get bent once you start doing more advanced moves and pulling on the slinky a lot harder!
@daz4043

Just grab it from 9 coils, thats what I did and it worked pretty well

Slinky Josh And it hurts your hands. I was trying to get it down for hours with a metal slinky and I did, but now everything I touch feels soft.
Great video but why the flower hat😂
So what’s the difference between the slinky you sell vs. one I can find at the dollar store? Is it harder to tangle? Does it have a special design to make it more suitable for advanced tricks?
@SlinkyJosh
3 жыл бұрын
I will make a video on this soon, but you want one that has the proper spring constant (a measure of how "floppy" vs "stiff" it is) that will allow you to perform more advanced tricks, like the up-down twisting variations I do at the end of this video. If it's too floppy, these tricks will be more difficult or impossible, and it will become more easily tangled. The ones I currently sell on my website (not the one in this video unfortunately) are perfect for all beginner and advanced moves, and they're bigger than one you are likely to find in a dollar store.

Slinky Josh Thank you!
Thanks for help your video help me to broke my stinky😅😅😅
What is the music in the background?
What slinky do you use Josh?
I too criss crossed I my first step
i can do that but it is like a chunk of the slinky moving not every individual coil.
I can’t repeat it but I can do it anyway to fix that?
I almost tangled my slinkie on the second step, wow I’m very bad at this hehehehehe....
Are all slinkies the same? Mine is 10 cm long, when i try to do the arc it falls down.
Mera bi phoot gaya😅😂
لعب كتير حلو ❤❤❤❤❤
Great tutorial. But do you have a tip on how to prevent it from slacking? No matter how far I place my hands apart, and no matter how little or hard I jerk my hands, after 2 or 3 times going back and forth, all the energy is gone and it just slacks.
@SlinkyJosh
4 жыл бұрын
Good question! Make sure you're only PULLING. This won't work if you try to push the coils around. You have to pull them downward and away from each other. Also, make sure that the hand you pull with goes a little bit below the other hand, so that gravity can help you out. Let me know if this works!
