I love Chinese. It is such an old language. In Ebonics, we would call that "kicking it old school." 笔, yes it means "pen" in the modern sense. It's root meaning is "paint brush". 毛笔, is redundant as 笔 already contains the word 毛 hair. That's like saying "Birth of a Nation". Nation means birth as in preg-nant, pre-natal, native, Nativity. Birth of a Nation literally means Birth of a Birth.

紙 probably means "paper". (I don't know Chinese). But it's root word is 糹silk. The material can also be silk instead of paper (papyrus, where the word "paper" comes from).

I really love your channel. I like Chinese dramas & that's what inspired me to learn Chinese. I started basics with apps but I had trouble with pronunciation. After discovering your channel, I learnt very easy & proper way to speak Chinese. Thanks to you the tones don't give me a tough time any more!! Haha. Seriously you're way of teaching is very unique & it's as if I'm in a class itself. I searched many KZread videos for Chinese learning but I wasn't really comfortable with any, until I found this channel. Thanks a lot once again! (I've subscribed as well :)) I've visited your website as well & saw that you take classes also. I'll ask my mom if I can attend one.
