Session view is fun but you can’t drop in little samples to play at exact places, e.g. play some audio on the 5th of an 8 bar loop. You can but you’d have to fiddle with loop markers and listen thru. This is why arrangement view is still best for composing in my view.

Right, you could put a MIDI note far along on the 5th bar (or w/e/) and then hold shift and select all clips in the session view so that it links all their transport. (This works with MIDI clips anyway, I think audio too)@@garbageland1

Hi there - The feature you're looking for is called "Fixed length recording" and there are a few different ways it can be done. The best thing to do for help with how to do certain things in the software is to get in touch with an Ableton Certified Trainer: bit.ly/42La0Sx They can point you in the right direction. How do you edit in session view when say recording a guitar clip? There is that slight overlap from finishing the chord to stopping the recording. How do I edit that out?
@Ableton
5 ай бұрын
Hi there. Thanks for reaching out. Click on the clip to display it in the clip view at the bottom of the screen. Then you can drag and drop the clip loop end marker, the small left-facing triangle at the top of the clip view, to change where the clip's playback will end. For more help or other usability questions, we recommend reaching out to an Ableton Certified Trainer!: bit.ly/4bHDC7z Thanks - Ableton

@@Ableton Thanks for your swift response. Shall check that. Haven't yet fully understood Ableton clip behaviour. My doubt about Session view isn't resolved yet. Suppose my Midi track 1 has 4 clips one below the other say C1, C2, C3 and C4. My Midi track 2 has 3 more clips say C5, C6 and C7. How do I control the sequence of their playback? I mean if I want to play them in the order C6-C1-C3-C2-C5-C7-C4 how to achieve that? Let me first understand the Session view. May move to Arrangement view after that.
