Very good and to see the Khmer script at the same time is very helpful, especially since 2 months ago I knew nothing about Khmer. I really want to learn this language! Thanks again.

Thank you! I've know a Khmer girl for 10 years and all she ever wanted to teach me was something I couldn't repeat in public! Wish I had this 10 yrs. ago. And I agree with "giaiz"; speaking the khmer slower would be helpful.

I am Cambodian myself and I want to point out that we don't actually say "Baht Teh" or "Jas Teh" for "No" we just simply say "Teh" or "Ort". Ort is a more informal to say No. or you can also combine the "Ort" and "Teh" tgt so it becomes "Ort teh" it's a bit more powerful than ort and teh alone. Hope this helps :)

For those who want to see the original texts in transcription, search for Modern Spoken Cambodian on books.google.com/. It's Lesson 2 on page 12 of the book, with all the phrases broken down into vocabulary words too. You can find the texts of the other videos there too. Hope this helps.

I see. That is why I could not find it. I have borrowed one of his other books from the library. It has the script, plus the initial reading lessons are short. But I found them maybe a bit difficult in terms of vocabulary. That is why I liked your sentences because Im aiming at understanding the script to be able to read and getting a better pronounciation. And the sentences where more natural.

Hi! i'm wondering if this is just very formal khmer (as i have learned khmer from hearing people speak and with my khmer friends), or, if this is simply from another area of the country where maybe they speak slightly different. I live in Kampongsaom(SHV). No one i know would ever say loak ch'moo ah-ey. Simply everyone says : ch'moo ey ke. it seems that everyone i know uses ey ke instead of ah-ey. is that a formal thing, or simply just a difference in accent or whatever. Also, in all my time in cambodia, i have never heard a single person say "jaa te" or "baat te"

Jum reap suo khnyom truv kaa doeng nih. Is that correct? Anyway I have some questions. Joo-ai khnyom bahn te? If I want to ask "what would you like?" to a girl or a close female friend what form of "you" should be used? And likewise is it correct to use "Joh lok? " with a female friend? Mien thngai la-or arkun.

Nice videos. I tried to find the book, but it seemed to have only IPA. Do you write the sentences in khmer yourself from the IPA in the book or did I look at the wrong page maybe? Would love to have the sentences in khmer for reading practice and repetition.

Hello. The Khmer script was my own addition in making these lessons. I believe "Modern Spoken Cambodian" was one of the few texts of the Huffman series which didn't introduce the actual Khmer script and relied only on his personal transliteration system.
