Also funny you mention relating coding to martial arts. As a jiu jitsu practitioner this is always how I think of coding. When people start jiu jitsu they are like fish out of water. The learning curve is very steep to start. And beginners often feel lost, as classes aren't exactly structured in curriculum. But after sticking to it long enough you start seeing results. And as the new guys come in looking like fish out of water you start to feel like you have a much better grasp of the concepts than before. Years later after consistent chunking you start to see the bigger picture of things and understand the moves that seemed so complicated before. Right now I feel like a white belt in coding. Its frustrating to not know things but I know its just a matter of time before I'm looking at other white belts and miss the days.
Month for sure! September Catch-up crew, where you at?! Been dreading JavaScript but here I am. We go get!

Hey catchup crew!!
Catchup Crew Check-in!! Thank you Leon for providing an avenue in the modern age of tech to individuals that can truly change their lives! I've only been following the last cohort but am hopeful to join cohort 3 and be live with the community. You're awesome brah! Now let me go carry some boats and logs with JavaScript!
really appreciate that you repeat important concepts 3 times to ensure its heard. "when the smurf hears the event, when we hear the click on dominoes pizza, when the smurf HEARS THE CLICK".... oh... smurfs hear clicks. concept committed to memory!

& I grew up on Dominoes and little skeezurs. Dominoes all day. Sometimes that new crust/undercoating messes with me but I still bash on it.
I made it to JavaScript! 😭💕

Thanks for everything Leon! Catching up and this is invaluable. Much appreciated!
I swear, Leon. You are nothing short of amazing! These classes, your advice, your examples--top notch!
I have watched several different beginner Javascript tutorials now trying to wrap my head around things - this is BY FAR THE GREATEST!
I don't know Leon, but I know he is a solid, amazing human being. The amount of work put into these videos from the motivation to the teaching is just...I don't have words. My mans is so dope. And he does it all for free?? Once again, speechless.

He explains Javascript better than any Udemy class or even Codecademy does. Like, he breaks it down so well.
Thank you for everything you do Leon, you're really making a difference in my life and so many others.
Man, this class is Pure Gold . Leon, you are definitely changing my life.
Please protect this man at all costs! He is a national treasure!!!!
I am so grateful to be part of this bootcamp despite me on a paid bootcamp too. I really like how to teach us to have the correct mindset! Thank you.

Love Leon's positivity and attitude. Great info

Thank you Leon for making this free and accessible. You are a fantastic tescher 👏
This class was really fun! Thank you
Love this class! Much appreciated!!🤗
WE LOVE TO SEE IT!!!
The metaphors are amazing and make coding so fun!
I think another way to describe the DOM. Imagine we're making a movie or a play. HTML would be the script of the movie/play, CSS would be the stage, and the DOM would be the readthrough, or the acting part. Looking at the DOM is like watching the actor read the script, watching how the actor interprets their lines. And JS is like the director of the movie...yelling out commands... How does that sound?
December catchup crew lezgo! Took me a month to reach this point. SO excited to learn JS!
Yes thumbnail!! 🙌🏾 🔥
love your analogies and ways of teaching, your blessed at teaching, God bless you more! thanks!
So pumped with my 1st exposure to JS. LET'S GO!!
Awesome program!! I am going all in even though it feels like a pipe dream after a lifetime of struggling to keep above water. But I won't stop struggling and pushing forward to be the best version of me possible.

@@floydland3509 I will absolutely be finishing it. But over the last year it just became clear to me that unless I handle my past and come to terms with somethings. I wouldn't be changing my life. I would just be changing my bank account balance. At least until I found a way to screw everything up for myself. So yes, in a sense I am still sticking with it. My path just required a little detour for self improvement and reflection. Which I am actively doing now. For me this course has been more than just learning to code. It's given me genuine hope. Which I didn't think I would ever really feel again. As cheesy as it sounds. I made two people promises when I started this journey. One was to my son that if he sacrificed now I would make sure he would never have to again. The second was to Leon, that I would pay it forward. These are both promises only death would keep me from seeing through.
I love the part about the power of Javascript. Time to wield the power!
I first watched this lecture and was really overwhelmed, after doing the homework readings and making notes then re-watching the lecture I understood it much better. Don't panic guy s if you can't do it.
This is my first development tutorial here, love the vibes, I learned UI/UX with Figma and looking to learn dev. Hopefully I stick with it. Wish me luck people
Super Late Crew checking in!!!! Trying to catch up to the live classes, I'll see y'all soon in Twitch chat :D
Nice class for beginner who learning JavaScript love u leon
Thank you for this video. Ot helps me a lot to learn JS.
Ayee. I love the vibes. I am super estatic.
Thank YOU LEON!!!!
15:30 Roger Bannister (4-minute mile runner): "To run a 4minute mile you have to be humble enough to do the actual work, but at the same time arrogant enough to believe you will succeed."
buckets is a great metaphor. I feel like programming concepts are just one good metaphor away from being easily understood by most people.
One should NEVER try to keep a diet and follow Leon's classes at the same time!

Please help!!! i'm looking for The song that Leon uses as intro.
Ive learn to type in a ok decent way , my typing isnt super fast or perfect . I dont look at my typing when i type, on a separate keyboard , i use a 01 anne pro keyboard which speeds up time .
